A humanoid Synth?

Since Synths are said to be some alien creatures modified by the Combine to become a machine, then don't you think that the Dropship's 'original form' might have been a humanoid (like the Alien Grunt)?

No, I absolutely don't think the dropship was originally a humanoid shape. Humanoid synths do exist, however, as Soldiers and Elites prove.

Alyx flat-out states "this is what happens to you if you resist" while mournfully closing a stalker pod in Ep1, and a couple of Resistance fighters sometimes reference how rebels get turned into stalkers, too.

Besides, the closest Valve's ever come to designing a humanoid Half Life alien have been the Alien Grunts, the Nihilanth, and the Vortigaunts (all the CP units and foot soldiers in the game are or once were human, it's easy to forget sometimes because of the masks). I doubt they'd design an alien so similar to humans that the two species have the same skeletal structure, and then only use that species in a highly-altered synth form on the human homeworld. That's just confusing.

I didn't notice that, good catch. I would love to see what world it came from, it's brutal how the Combine just takes living things and mutilates them, binding them physically and mentally to their servitude. Breen really believed this was our path to the next stage of evolution? he was a fool, we were only to become mere weapons and tools, it makes you think though, what if the Advisors are also slaves?
