So I got another A8N-SLI(Well this one is a Deluxe). This just came with the board(I have the other parts as some of you may know).

After taking off the thermal paste on my cpu and readding it on. Putting it into this new motherboard.(All from artic, and all that went smoothly thanks to there directions from there website)

Now I've gone through everything step by step.
I reset the cmos etc....and now the fan thing still happens :|.

The fans go for a second and then stop. The Power LED lights up for a second. No beeps.

There is something in the manual that says something about "Chasis intrusion connector". Just wondering what this is.

So far my motherboard isn't damaged at all. Everythings connected right. I really wanna get this working so I can buy my gfx card. Tommarow I have off work so tonight and tommarow I will be checking this quite often.

I haven't read your other threads I'm afraid - but could this be a power supply? What power supply are you using?

I doubt it, im using an Antec Truepower 2. 550 watts. 2 12v Rails etc..

I have another 350 one that came with my case. I have a crappy PCI graphics card for any testing. The same thing happened with my board with either of the power supplys.(Of course then I reset the CMOS(hadn't done that), something fried and yeah.. After that it actually stayed on though... Talk to a guy and he said it was probably fried)

I can always buy another one..I do have the cash, but obviously I'd rather not. This one was a refurbished from newegg. I bought it since I actually had all the parts from the one that got fried(And because that took a heavy chunk from the price and the normal non deluxe\non refurbished was out ot stock).

Chasis intrusion connector in bios probably should be disabled. Some cases have a trigger that tells it when the door is on or off and tells it to beep if it's off.

It's disabled, didn't fiddle with it. Just wanted to know exactly what it was for.

Anyway ill look into a few things n get back to you.

I don't think my case is grounded. I remember with my other motherboard, I had to set my case on it's side for it to work. That dosn't seem to work now.
How would I go about making it "grounded".
I feel like such a noob now lol.

Just make sure the motherboard is mounted on the standoffs correctly. Make sure the screws you used have the same thread as the standoffs and you didn't use just any screw. CPU fan and Powersupply fans (if you have a wire for it) plugged into the board. Make sure the molex connectors from the PSU are not shorting with the case.

k, thx

Ok Asus and deadpenguins. I Have it running but still no beeps or anything on the screen. Fans go, and motherboards in tip top shape.

I know some Pci-Express motherboards dont work well with PCI Graphics cards, and on the Asus Motherboard it says the chasis speaker cord should have 4prongs(+5v,ground,ground,speaker).

My case only has the 2 side ones. The 2 middle ones have nothing. It says my red wire is + and my black wire is -. It also notes that "As a general rule, all colored wires should be connected to Pin 1 on your motherboard, and white or black wires to ground.

I connected my Red write into the "+5", and the black into "Speaker". Could me not having the 2 middle ground wires be the cause of no beeps.

Am I possibly getting a beep for a graphics card problem but since my chasis deserves to die, and if it didn't have 2 scratches on the top of it from the car ride i would return it back to best buy.

All the speaker 4pins that I have seen are missing the middle two so I wouldn't worry. LEDs are the only thing that I know of that don't work if you put them in with the wrong polarity.

K, hmm...ill look into a few more things, thanks Asus.

I know this might seem stupid, but did you remember to set it off PEG?

PEG = Pci Express Graphics.

How would I do that? Didn't see anythign on the manual or motherboard about that.

And I can't see anything on the monitor so...changing in the bios may be out of hand..unless I do it usnig the book and hope I hit the right stuff lol(which I would do actually, im not bad at that stuff)

Actually it would be,
Over 1, down 6, enter, down 1, enter, down 3, enter, F10, and I guess im suppose to select yes..but maybe enter would do....

It'll be in the bios, but it depends on what bios you've got. I can't really just go into my bios and check :p but I guess I could just for you.

Oh wait, monitor isn't showing up? Try plugging it into your mobo for now, and then switching PEG off. Then plug it into your PCI gfx card.

Most mobos have a VGA port, even if they don't have onboard video.

Well my manual is pretty nice thats how I checked on all that. Very detailed on the bios.

I don't have a VGA port.
Just to see if it works, could I possibly plug my speakers in and see if I hear the windows starting up noise?

I decided to show my brother and when I did, the same exact thing Fried as my oringal one. I don't know why it fried this time(plus a horrid smell)..everthing was exactly the same.

It still does the same thing btw. The computer goes..fans spin...nothing comes up....no beeps.

I personally don't think it is fried as it still works exactly the same.

chipset fan? The A8N-SLI Deluxe boards do have a faulty chipset fan. Mine would make a loud ass noise but I added some oil and it spins up just fine now :D

What about the regular A8N-SLI, it did the same thing to me.

Is anything poking in any of the wrong places?
Like?

Sorry for this Double Post, but guess what....
My Bro's friend came over and helped me out ALOT.

I found out it was grounded properly. Once we did that it started to run.
New problems:
-My Cd-Rom Drive is always secondary. Can't seem to get it to primary.
-I can only get it to boot up in 98 Safemode. I tried 98Safe, XpSafe, 98, Xp.

For some reason it fails to boot up in Xp and 98. In 98 it will freeze and then restart. In Xp it will show the Xp loading for less than second and restart.

Any clues?
Thanks.

Oh, btw I guess so far it turns out neither of my boards are fried. I havn't tested my first one but it probably would act just like this one.

Most likely a PSU issue, i'd say WAY too high rail.

Why are you quoting to that one?
Thats fixed now.

Perhaps you've been confusing the vga port with another port...
