Since when is mIRC spyware? ...and it is free, just a bit of nag-ware (getting a popup requesting you to register each time you run it). If you weren't replying to the guy before you then ignore this.

Best for windows is mIRC.

like some servers say I need to have a full copy of mirc to join.

what would trillian do with that?

No IRC server tells you have to use mIRC, where did ya get this from? So yea, you can use Trillian if you want.

How do I get in that IRC channel? Where do I input that information in my Trillian program?

I have connection manager open and there is a space for server and a space for port.

I tried inputting irc.quakenet.org and it can't connect. What am I doing wrong?

Trillian is not a fully featured IRC client, so I doubt that URL will work for you.

Try this in your Trillian...
Server: irc.quakenet.org
Port: 6667
Channel: #halflife2

DOes one have to create a IRC account? I got onto irc.quakenet.org, but I get stuck at the Check IDENT status. I just made up my Nickname and User name...but do I have to create one like you do for AIM?

Or should I dump trillian for mIRC?

I went to download.com and it says mIRC is only a 30day free trial, then you have to pay to continue...

All irc scripts need mirc, it contains no spyware.
mIRC without scripts is quite ugly and off-putting.

I got mine working. I'm not sure why yours isn't, I didn't create anything. very weird. not sure how to help, but trillian is very convenient, and i use it, and it works.

This is as far as I can get:

And then it starts over again - it can't find my ident for some reason...

any ideas?
