A look at Catalyst AI

 So I guess the new 4.10's will include a new feature "Catalyst AI"

When we enabled the higher image quality options we can see that the 4.10 drivers are offering much more in the way of performance gains. The AI - Low mode is giving as much as a 37% gain over the 4.9's, whilst AI - High gains as much as 41.5%. The performance gains offered here are tantamount to a resolution increase being afforded with these settings.

In this instance even disabling AI entirely is gives a higher performance under 4.10 as the 4.9 drivers with the default optimisations - this would either suggest that some optimisations have been missed and aren't disabled, or ATI have made some generic gains that allows them to exceed their prior performance even without generic texture optimisations.

:dozey: What Teh ****korz? You took over my thread! I created this mo ****a!

;) Next month, or whenever the 4.10's come out.

:) After 4.12? Haven't you noticed that ATi releases new drivers every month?

hmm its now at 4.9 so I thought it would be 5.0, isn't that correct?

4 stands for the year. 10 stands for the month.
That's how ATI numbers the drivers. ;)

um, so what does this mean?

:) Spam... doesn't mean shit, except the fact that drivers are released everyone month.

no i mean about the ai part, i know it increases perfomance, but how, and at whta cost

This actually sounds too good to be true! It makes me wonder why no one's ever done it before.

:dozey: Wasn't it like the thing where it would just switch between Bilinear and Trillinear filtering? But, there's no image quality loss, because you cannot tell.

w000t ?? cool. Party at my house next month then :D
I hope it's true as much of the promises regarding drivers tend to be bullpoop. (bullpup, if that's your pleasure)

I love free performance increases. I hope they start supporting more and more titles.

Does anybody know if this works only for the R4XX, or does it include the R3XX as well?

this looks really good :) more fps in doom3 is always good :D
but no improvement in Half-life 2 :(

Catalyst AI
Temporal AA
New CCC

ATI is really stepping up with its drivers. Bravo ATI, Bravo.

ATI is really innovating with their drivers. Its refreshing for them to take a subject like drivers optimization and spin it into a positive. I won't mind a free performance boost with as long as image quality doesn't decrease.
