so i can slate them

the only 2 people i know off this board have appauling music taste at times

If you like Aphex, then try heading for something more extreme such as Venetian Snares and Bogdan Raczynski. Venetian Snares is a genius and he uses even more samples than Aphex, and Bogdan...well, his beats are unique!

especially squarepusher and boards of canada if you want mellow

If there's one thing I am snotty about, it is my music, and there is nothing wrong with Coldplay. I've found that most people do, in fact, have horrifying tastes in music. Here's some stuff I've been listening to lately:

This is slightly off topic, but what's the difference between rap and hip-hop? I don't like either, but I was just wondering what the distinction was.

Not much, hip-hop is the popular version of rap, generally with a repeated chorus.

firebert, hip hop is the same as rap but the lyrics are slightly different. in rap you have "ima gohen dOwwn to da licka sto', ima gonna get me sum booze 'n bitches" and hip hop is "baby, baby, baby, i love you baby, baby, baby" and every 8 measures they throw in a high pitched synth-triangle "ding" noise to keep it happy. i think thats the only difference

hip hop has a far better beat too
hip hop also doesnt need an MC

even though i dont really prefer either i still would go with hip hop. with rap, the rappers want to kill everyone, but hip hoppers only want to do little boys
