I wrote a review in the "First Impressions" thread. I wrote about how the game was "okay" and "mediocre." I didn't like how it run on my machine. Well, here's my new take.
When I wrote my first review, I wrote it in haste. I only played the demo for 2 hours... really not enough time to see how much fun the game really is.
The teamwork is something beyond me. Seeing our squad run into an enemy base, 2 people chucking nades over the barricades, snipers from afar, supports rushing in blasting anything that moves -- it's... breathtaking. And then, half your squad is dead, and you're out-numbered, a friendly tank comes in and blows up theri vehicles, gunning down their personel. Wow, I get chills from just thinknig about it.
About the graphics: I thought my machine could only run BF2 on Low at about 40 FPS. Trust me, it looks like shit (sorry) on Low. So, I tryed Medium settings. My FPS stayed at 35-37 range. Wow, was that a shock... and everything looked AWESOME! Then I think... what the heck and turn in on High. Whoa, lag, and about 25 FPS. 25 FPS is fine and all, but tunring around quick lags, and I need that edge. So, I went back, turned down the shadows and lighting, put the texure and terrien at Meduim. Wow. What a beautiful game! I'm running Medium-High settings at roughly 30 FPS. Boy, was I shocked when I found out I could do that!
The gameplay is awesome. Wanna run-and-gun? Sure, go ahead. Wanna be stealthy? Right on. Wanna be the "helper?" Go right ahead. See, the thing is is that this game supports YOUR playing style. It's so... genius! Plus, it supports my playing style... suicide car-ing (a word?). Heh. But anyways.
The sound captures each moment in a dramatic way. Everything has sound that directly matches what your doing. The mini-gun sound on the support chopper is not the same on the Black Hawk. They put a lot of time into this.
The phyics (a.k.a. ragdolls) is here are flawless. A couple of times I see the legs overlapping and each one of them are fighting for control but that doesn't draw me away. It's hilarious to see someone's ragdoll animation after they get bombed by artillery.
Well, I thank you for reading, and, yes, I know there is another thread alike this one, but I just wanted to correct myself.
For those who haven't downloaded the demo, I urge you to do so. No matter how long it takes, it's so much worth it.
