"There was a Shepherd Boy who tended his sheep at the foot of a mountain near a dark forest. It was lonely for him, so he devised a plan to get a little company. He rushed down towards the village calling out "Wolf, Wolf," and the villagers came out to meet him. This pleased the boy so much that a few days after he tried the same trick, and again the villagers came to his help. Shortly after this a Wolf actually did come out from the forest. The boy cried out "Wolf, Wolf," still louder than before. But this time the villagers, who had been fooled twice before, thought the boy was again lying, and nobody came to his aid. So the Wolf made a good meal off the boy's flock."

Lesson to be learnt, Half-Life 2 will eventually be released, no-one will believe it, then it will eat us all.

*i never passed grade 2*

I'm afraid they were delayed on their way to blow the house down. No word on why they were delayed though.

That's not the morale of the story, it's about lying :P

Leaked HL2 script. Lock please.
rofl .. I hope you are joking?

Yes, I mean, no. Of course I'm not joking. Anyone who's anyone knows that the leaked script had everything to do with the boy who cried wolf. Mixed in with the Gman. And Alyx. And the Combine. And the Citadel. And City 17.

Counter-point:

Why the hell would they continually elect a boy with such a shoddy track record in wolf-prevention to guard the sheep, especially if livestock is the apparent sole industry of this town?

And also, why not move the flock AWAY from the Dark Wood? The entire point of being a shepherd is that you are shepherding the flock from place to place! Yet another strike against Mr. Irresponsible that the townsfolk ignored.

And furthermore, since when is wolf-sighting a concern of the entire municipality? They should have stayed in their homes and expected the boy to contact the local forestry official and/or animal control officer. The lack of emergency planning Mr. irresponsible used in the first call should have tipped them off to his irresponsibility, but instead they ignored this glaring mistake and repeatedly attempted to exact mob justice against the alleged wolf.

So, the disaster was more the fault of the townsfolk, who blindly entrusted their flock to an overworked and incompetant shepherd, and then scapegoated him when it all fell appart because "no-one saw it coming." (Quotation marks mine)

The moral, in this case, is that however bad the errors are, they are only compounded by the ignorance of those who review them.

Hey - why don't you tell the WHOLE story at once ???
Here we go;

The boy quickly realized that no one was going to come and aid him in the defence of the flock and ran back to where he'd seen the wolf appear. Upon arrival five minutes later all he saw was a bloodbath with pices of torn-off wool laying on the ground with a tone of pink - like white cloth washed together with red socks.

"NO...NOOO !!" cried the boy as he ran around in the slaughterfest looking for any potential survivors. Later on the boy just stopped, stood still for awhile, trying to get himself together. He must be a man and suffer the consequences of his acts. With a heavy head he walked back to the village. The villagers saw the young boy as he stepped onto the gravel road - his legs were covered with stinking blood and small pieces of dried on wool. It didn't take long for the villagers to put one and one together; "The boy have killed all the sheep !"

The village's self-appointed "leader" ran out with his shotgun in hand, grabbed the weeping boy by his neck and dragged him all the way to the slaughter. The strong, well-built man felt his knees turn numb as he looked upon the horrors making an even clearer border between the plains and the forest than the first row of trees once had done. He pushed (almost threw) to boy out into the killingfield so hard that the boy had to run a few steps so he wouldn't fall down.

The strong, mighty, scary and completely overwhelmed man raised the shotgun barrels and took aim at the boy's back. Before letting one single thought break through, he fired. BAAAAM ! The shotgun blast echoed through the plains appearing as a soft dark rumble back in the village. The boy's back and spine was completely shattered by the led and he fell down to the ground. The man was allready heading back to the village after having brought avenge to the flock. Hours passed and night arose. The boy had been passing in and out of consiousness since impact and he suffered an indescribable pain.

Suddenly, a strange noise came from behind a thick bush a few feet into the forest. He gazed over there and saw two yellow-red eyes staring at him - they looked like pure evil. The wolf was back ! It had gotten itself such a fancy meal yesterday and now he was hungry again, returning to the luxurious dishes. However, this time there was only one boy laying there, broken in half. The wolf approched the boy who couldn't do anything but laying there watching in horror as the wolf begun gnawing on his legs. He didn't feel anything since all his nerves had all been teared off from eachother. The last thing the boy saw was the dark insides of the wolf's jaws. The last thing the boy felt was the wolf's teeth digging down into his head, cracking his skull under the preassure.

THE END !

Oohh, btw - the wolf died later due to ledpoisoning from the shotgun blast. - just to put a tiny ounce of "good" into the ending.

The "Wolf died from poisoning" part - I made that up myself actually. ;)
