Well I bought myself a 2.1 set of Klipsch speakers last year and I realized my error soon after in not spending the extra cash to get a 4.1 or 5.1 set of the same speakers instead. Now im getting and Audigy 2 card and I need to know if it is possible to buy new speakers (no subwoofer, same kind of sattelite) so that I can turn it into a 5.1 or 6.1 set.

I bought a pair of Altec Lansing speakers about two years ago. They came with two satilites and a sub. They are great.

Then, recently, I wanted to upgrade to a surround system, so I went out and bought another set of the same and use them for the back channels, which works perfectly.

And what about the sub? I bolted it to my seat (its a wooden desk chair) so now my chair vibrates slightly whenever there is low bass.

Now that I've done that, I can imagine paying for brand new surround speakers becuae they wouldnt come with a rear sub to shake my seat.

It really adds a sense of realism when you can actually feel the tank your driving shake under you.

/me is sad because surround sound wouldnt work well with the room his computer is in.

headphones > speakers

I a big headphone guy, so yeah. get a pair of nice headphones and feel the magic.

I have a good pair of headphones, I love them, but they don't have the same effect as surround sound.

headphones=multiplayer
speakers=singleplayer

:cheers:

What I did when I bought my 5.1 Audigy card is I simply took my old 4.1 Cambridge sound works system and my 2.1 Aiwa speakers and placed them on my top shelf on top of my pc, then with the bass/center channel connection I combined them so I wouldn’t get may left channel speakers playing only bass and my right channel only playing central audio (or other way around). Then with my 4.1 Logitech 400 watt system I have it in the normal right/left connection and rear right/ rear left connection... It works beautifully, only problem is that my central/bass connection has less bass then my Logitech connection <- this has its advantages and disadvantages such as when watching a movie for example: when the BASS is played like in the matrix :cool: when you hear the gun shot in slow motion etc... Its sounds great yet when the music for the surround sound plays like in that club when they play that Rob Zombie song it has kick ass bass. So basically now I'm planning to buy that Altec subwoofer for my central/bass channel once I can gather some $$$... man... I love bass :dork:

I would like to know more about which headphones are good for PC gaming... I have heard of one that even emulates Surround Sound. If that's the case, all other headphones are just 2-channel (left and right)?
