Hail the Art and Design Forum!
I've thought up a somewhat-story to go along with my mod system idea, but just as I began to write about the story further...poof. Writer's block, as far as characters go. What I humbly ask for is if you are inspired by my story to draw a character, please post it here.
So here's the story -
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The world came to an end. That's all anybody knows. No one remembers how it ended, or when it ended. Above all, no one cares why the world fell apart. All they know is, when they were born, naked and squalling into the world, all it gave them was the dust and ashes of the old world. Enormous skeletal buildings populate abandoned cities that dot the landscape like sage brush in a desert, while forests, desert, and the elements reclaim what was theirs from the ruins of humanity. Humanity struggles to reunite in a world where a strange hodgepodge of lost technology and fierce group loyalties keep people at each others' throats. Only one category of humans has the abilities to bind the disparate peoples together, and those humans don't know it yet. They are the throwbacks.
Throwbacks are people who have manifested powers that were supposed to be lost long, long ago, even before the fabled age of the great Glowing Cities and the Web of Lies and Knowledge. As the throwbacks grow into their teens, they find that they are not like other people. Their perception of the world and how it works can control the forces of reality. Some use their powers to plunder. Others use their powers to enforce law and order. They are the ones who can lead Humanity out of its despair, and build a new future. Maybe, with their talents, a better one.
But to lead Humanity to its greatest Age, they must first come to terms with each other.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not all the Throwbacks are "hip-hip-hooray, I'm going to lead humanity outta' this pit!" There are despairing, indifferent and downright destructive people among them as well. They are outcasts, public speakers, farmers, warriors, and scribes. They are people, with the variety of people, but gifted with great abilities.
Who do you think the main character should be?
