A Question about Copyrights

I was just wondering, if I created a Firefox theme based on Half Life 2, would I need to obtain Valve's consent? Assuming I don't use any icons created by Valve, and I don't distribute it commercially.
 
It's never a question of if they would sue you, it's a question of would they win.
 
It's kind of like them suing halflife2.net for the banner at the top of the forums... just not going to happen.
 
they won't sue you...3 thugs will just show up and take a hammer to your knuckles :O
 
On a more serious note, they will most likely only be happy as its pretty much free advertisment for their game. Its not that much different from a fan site really.

Don't profit from it and give credit where credit is due. (This includes any fan art you may include in the browser as well)
