A question to hl2.net regulars.....

The constantly loading times. I was/am (still playing HL2) so drawing into HL2 only to have that immersion utterly killed by 20 second load times every 20 minutes. It just bugs me to no end. The best way I can describe loading times in HL2 (from my perspective) is like an itch that you can't scratch. That itch isn't the worst thing in the world, but it isn't the best thing in the world.

I also don't like the pace of the game once the action started. I wanted to be able to enjoy the beautiful graphics (instead I have to worry about getting my ass shot off constantly). Some people have said HL2 started too slow, I disagree. I think the first part of HL2 was perfect.

That and their barnacle placement isn't quite up to tabs yet either. ;)

Ya, I agree the loading times are really annoying.

I actually just finished the game today and it was fun, but I thought it could have been a lot better. Like you, I really enjoyed the first part. After that it just turned into too much of an arcade shooter for me. But the last quarter of the game was much better I thought.

There is no emoticon in existance that expresses how pleased i am with Halflife2, and there isn't a nicer bunch of guys and gals that i would rather wait for Halflife2 with then the people on here.

Quoted for emphesis :) , I'm going to come here until the very end.

Hell yes!! The only dissapointment so far is Ravenholm. Don't get me wrong, It's very well done, and I'm sure most people would enjoy it, but don't really like it when the zombies scare the hell outta me. But I'm sure it's just me.

Heh, I know what you mean...When they climb up the drain pipes

Sends shivers down my spine. Though, the effect is ruined if you stand at the top of said drain pipes, with a rather spiffy shotgun.

I find the colt is rather handy here :p

Anyway! Yeah... the game is/was fantastic. (completed it.... but am gona go through bits again :))

And yes, its worth it. I love these forums. Its like a seperate little world I can express myself in without stress of reality.. :)

Its the best forum I have ever been a member of because of the members. We have the best members arround. :)

I'm about 5 min after the place where you go down the elevator and meet the big mf with like 5 headscrabs (fast/poison) on it for the first time. I have just send away some metal objet on a line using a stick, for no reason it appears. My question is: how much is it left of Ravenholm?

yeah, I would say it was, however, i'm gonna miss all the excitement and annoyance of waiting, in some maschoistic way lol..
Its like, it was the waiting and speculating that built this community, who knows where it'll go now?

lol wacko :p
yeah im happy the game is finally out and yeah so far its really living up to my expectations...the mods are gonna be fun :cheese:

edit: if theres things which were letdowns for me about HL2, one would be the no HL2 themed MP aspect...another and rather annoying part was the untimely loading.

i really hope Valve has something planned as far as MP goes.

The funniest part of all this is that the tests meant NOTHING!

I wasn't really waiting for HL2 most of the time... I'm having fun with it so far, though...

HL2 is everything I hoped for it to be and more.

Now I must go play some more...

I played it mostly in the dark...sure my eyes are bleeding, but it was worth it :D

I just want to get mapping now, but I can't do much other than landscaping and architecture at the moment...I want to launch some zombies through tha air :(

Well, as neutrino said, the last quarter of the game is satisfying. Somewhere in the middle, HL2 get's lost with the pacing - but in the end it gives you a satisfying and enjoyable feeling.

shadows still sucked.. but i had fun playin it..
so, thumbs up!

I still haven't even played it yet... ;(

Yeah, im not going to get too excited about forthcoming games again (until half-life 3 anyway)... its not healthy to get so worked up over 20+ hours of pure genious on a dvd.
Game = 10.1/10

not like i dedicated 2 years of my life to the game, but yes, keepin an eye on it for awhile was worth it.

I still haven't played the game yet, but the wait is nearly over for me.

After all the hassle of HL2, I played it for 2 days, beat it, came back to camp the forum. Fun times.

Now we wait for mods to come out....the REAL reason we all got HL2 :D

I wouldnt say its the real reason...I'm not waiting for mods as much as the full SDK. I just want to make some maps to play around in.

News flash farrow, Hammer came out ages ago.

well, im enjoying it to ****, i think it was worth it, the only let down is no multiplayer ..
