So, how very exciting, I got a radio show. On real life actual analogue radio. It's on 95bFM, Auckland's student radio station. My show is from 3 am until 6 am on Friday mornings, which sucks for me, but not for people in a better timezone!
It's my first show this coming Thursday night/Friday morning, and you should all listen! If you can. This page here [click here this one] should hopefully allow you to convert my timezone to yours, for optimum listening - just select where you live from the second drop down menu, which will tell you when it starts.
This page here has links to the live internet stream for the station (and I highly recommend the 128 kbps one).

I would try to type this out as an Infraction notice but I really don't have the will to try...

KA - Great news, hope you enjoy it. Had some mates that did the same thing in Melb and now are in talks with a commercial station.
 
KA I think you'll need to practice your annoying radio host voice. It takes a lot of effort to be as annoying as other, more well-known hosts.
 
Grats, youll be on mainstream in no time!

I was on Radio 1 once..at like 4:30am. Was one of those 'choose 5 songs *provided they were in the charts, narturally...and annoyingly* and we'll have a chat to you about stuff, why you chose the song, what youre doing with your life et etc.

But I got to talk to Sarah Cox the day before. She has to be the nicest woman Ive never met. Definitely stroked my ego a bit with her niceties towards me.

I'ma listen, I'm almost always around from 10pm-1am EST :D
 
I'll listen if it's just a three hour monologue, but if you play any music I'm liable to rip my ears off.
 
I'll try my hardest not to play any music. Maybe I'll just freestyle for three hours.

Cool, my friend had a student radio show at 3 AM one summer. I actually listened and called in a request because I felt guilty that I was always in class when he used to have afternoon shows. And then he gave up on the timeslot.... after about TWO SESSIONS.

So good luck to you man. You're gonna need it :p.

But I might not, so If you do play music, OLLIE, you should post a list of the tracks in this thread so I can go find them and pretend I'm listening to the show! Yes!
Heck maybe even record some of the show and upload it, that would be cool.

Sure, the studio has skype. You could come up with a track to discuss, and I could play it on the show.

I'll be playlisting every show, which I'll put on the show page. Unfortunately, although bFM does upload bits of its shows, we can't upload whole shows, or even long segments of music because
  1. Giant waste of bandwidth
  2. Far too easy to steal full songs (ie legality)
 
How do you get a job like that? Did you do anything related to it at College/Uni?
 
I'm first year at uni. I got it by hanging around the offices, doing stuff that they needed doing, and generally schmoozing until they realised that I would be able to do a show and I wasn't a dick who was going to **** up the studio.

6 hours? 10 AM EST time? What.

I thought it was 3 AM when the show starts. You posted at 9 AM your time that in 6 hours you have a show. That would only be 5 PM. Someone tell me if I'm doing it wrong.

I just woke up so me mind is a little confuzzled, but this seems odd unless I have my time set incorrectly on here then again I'd have to have my time set incorrectly in life for it to be... incorrect.

Anyway, WTF.

i got a radio show on my college station too, we begin broadcasting on the 19th.
 
Really cool KA, congratulations.

This could be an important step into a career in radio, news media or something. So keep that in mind and keep the show clean.
