...what is Lost Coast about? Is it a part of Half-Life or is it just a show-off?

Its both I guess, It was originally planned as a chapter of Highway 17 chapter of HL2, but skipped in the end process.

Now it's also a technology showcase for HDR.

Guess it won't mean anything if I don't play it then...

Lost coast is mostly show of, but from the screens I have seen, you'll be introduced to a new guy. What he has to do with the story is unkonw thogh

dunno actually, I think it must be a show-off, because the story has nothing to do with the Half-Life 2 standard game story, maybe gordons vacation.

Valve just made Lost Coast for proving new levels of heights and release all the technology for an impressive show.

They are doing a good job, have updated lost coast played for 7 mins or so, confusing but damn exciting.

The Lost Coast is a level that was originally developed for HL2, but taken out due to time restrictions and it's place in the game. It was made to be put in the Coast series of levels.

Now since the Valve developers still had the idea of the level, they decided to use it as a test of incorperated HDR. It doesn't provide too much to the HL2 story, but it is infact part of it. The actualy length of it is very short, from 10-15 minutes... at least that is what I have heard.

The new character in it most likely is just as important as Father Gregori from the game, I doubt he has such a distinctive place in the plot as Alyx does. If you really want to learn more about Loast Coast, I'd reccomend you to visit BitTech's article on their playtest http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2005/09/14/lost_coast_screens/1.html .

I heard somewhere that it shows the shelling of Ravenholm and that it has BIOZEMINADES!
