A Return to Black Mesa?

As much as I would love to go back to Black Mesa, I really don't see it happening, especially anytime soon.

Though, one thing I could see happen is playing in a small bit of Black Mesa, perhaps in a flash back that you experience or something like that. That would be a huge tease by Valve :p

I'd love to see a little bit of Xen though, I'm not going to lie about that.

Yeah, I want a short trip to Xen too.

Dude, it probably is. Its the BM lobby remade, they wouldnt follow the exact dimensions and texturing. They made it new and fresh looking. And you can't deny, it looks awesome...

Don't call me dude.

It only looks similar in certain aspects.

It could be meant to represent anything. If Valve were intending to relay the whole 'black mesa' theme, they would have made it slightly more obvious.

Like Laidlaw says: it's just a dream-like scene. Remember, you see the Anti-Mass Spectrometer (it gets destroyed after the experiment) at the start of Half-Life 2.

Dude,, you don't understand a lot, do you?

Oh, well according to Drukles, it could be a different Anti-Mass spectormeter, because it looked a lil different, and its obvious black mesa would have more than one anti-mass spectrometer, just like they would have more than one lobby too.

Yes. Everyone knows that

No, it's recognisable. The lobby doesn't look much like that scene. My old workplace looks more like that than Black Mesa.

Nevertheless, its the lobby dude, just because they made it look very different so it would look nice on the source engine??? NM...

It is Black Mesa (see filenames), but I don't know if it's it's the one from the original Half-Life or not.

WAIT!
I specifically remember either Magnusson or Kleiner saying that their rocket would tap into the equipment in what was left of Black Mesa to shut down the Combine's super portal!

If I remember (from the launch site Earth hologram) Black Mesa had 3 satellites in geostationary orbit and 1 above the artic, which I think is a part of the Xen Array. If the Combine could block communications on the ground, then in most probablility they could block communications with that array.

Launching a rocket to talk to the array could solve that problem.

They didn't launch the rocket to communicate with black mesa, but to the satellites that BM launched all those years ago.

Referring to the satellite Gordon launched in Half Life: Uplink

The lobby's sexiness is marred by that clunky pc monitor...lol

Come to think of it, that monitor is awfully disproportionate to the Gman...
And I do doubt there will be returns to BM in Ep3.

I don't know if this is still relevant, but I think that the flight to the Borealis is going to be shorter than we think:

Its from Raising the Bar, but how exactly do you think we will be travelling on the Borealis?

In Half Life 2 Beta it was still an active ice-breaker vessel. In Episode 2/3 it is jammed 1/3 of the way into a glacier with part of the Dry dock stuffed on the side.

Call it a guess but I doubt we will be riding on the Borealis at anytime during Episode 3.

Oh, I'm not saying that we're going to be riding on the Borealis, I'm just saying that this map shows that the Borealis could be a lot close than we think. Maybe the only reason we're taking a chopper is because it's more convenient than taking a boat, not because the journey to the Borealis will be a long one.
