A sad thing it is.

The best advice I can give is to find a hobby and become almost fanatically devoted to it (without letting anyone know, of course). For example I read programming books and by the time I graduated I already knew like 4 programming languages and found a good job.

Whatever floats your boat as long as it results in $$$. Making more money then other people is a big self-esteem booster, trust me.

Wow, you're lucky. My hobby happens to be knitting and embroidery. I don't see much money coming off of that, plus I'm slow at it and you can tell it's amateur-ish work.

geez, y'all should really move to different schools or something. at my school it's competitive academically but at least kids aren't mean like that.

i wanted to do home schooling, but my mom said I would have no social life, and miss out on the fun things in highschool. I told her it was too late.

I guess another solution would be for you to find a girlfriend, which would immediatelly take care of all your problems, but I don't know how easy that would be to do in your postion. I'm still working on this one ...

unless you're a girl (i'm a girl...actually makes the whole quiet thing a lot worse since most every girl around me is pretty talkative)

Oh .. that explains the "knitting and embroidery" stuff .. I thought you were kidding :)

Well for a girl this is 10 times easier, actually. If you look OK any guy would go out with you. Your social skills, financial situation, etc. don't figure into it at all.

I'm curious, do you guys have people at school who stand up for others? Theres usually one or two guys that are fairly big that stand up for the smaller students or the ones who are made fun of and he is usally the guy that breaks up most of the fights.

Thats kinda my role in the "school community."

not really, i don't think. i'm pretty much insulated from what goes on with the majority of students at my school though, so i have actually never seen any school fights.

I went to a school where a fight could result in a gun or a knife being pulled. So there were almost no fights there ..

Tr0n, dont post useless crap like your first post, hes asking for real advice, not your stupid comments.

Anywho, I say let him be for a while, but try to make him jealous, if he wants to be depressed then let him, I bet he will come back to you after he gets bored being a reject.

Sympathy? No. You took my sig the wrong way. I hate people. When I say people, I mean people other than myself. I find them extremely frustrating, and they all think they're funny. A kid in my class through a frosting covered marshmellow at a girl. It got in her hair, she was very upset, and they teacher wouldnt let her leave to go to the bathroom and clean it out, she began to cry as the class laughed at her for another 33 minutes. When we left class I asked the marshmellow man, why he threw a frosting covered marshmellow at her. He had no reason, other than "it was funny". People, I find very cruel for no reason. people at school like to make fun of me and throw things at me becuase I never talk in class. Finally someone asked why I never talk, I replied "I have nothing to say". Only 3 more years.

I love humanity, but hate the people.

Welcom to life, have a nice day...

you got it right, and here would be where the thumbs up is, but i dont know how to do it. so we will have to play make believe.

I feel sorry for you guys. You have to go to sucky ass schools were everyone is a jackass. Here there is no so called "preps" or "geeks" because most of the preps at my school play computer games and some of the geeks are popular. But hey I live in the south were everyone is friendly. So I'm lucky.I to am a quiet person....but not all the time tho.I like to make some funny jokes out loud in class and stuff.I also have a popular brother(twin actually) so no one messes with me or my brothers friends will kick that persons ass.God I wish you guys were going to a nice school like mine.

I have to tell you, im usually quiet in classes that i dont know people in, but believe me, it will get better, you may not notice at first. anyway, i take it you live in the US and your a freshman. which explains havin 3 more years. If this is the case, im guessing that maybe the older kids make fun of you? if this is the case, then in grade 10-11, you will hardly be paid attention to. Yeah i dont think i am really helping, but im tryin, i think maybe i will continue...
What i used to do, is i stood up for myself, you kinda have to force yourself to be more agressive. I changed greatly in the past 3 years or so. Right now is nothin like it was 3 years ago. Acctually a year ago it was better. Uh yeah im not a good writer, i hope you can make sense, i think i will continue...
uh what else... I guess you should try to avoid situations that bring you into contact with people who will make fun of you. I know that if i was in your situation. I would jus shrug it off and laugh, then make fun of a characteristic of my assailant. Thats another good thing, you should be able to laugh at yourself, once i could do that, it helped i guess, haha an now i acctually laugh at alot of stuff. uhh....
I dont know, if i can think of any other tip things ill post em. oh wait, music... if you dont listen to it now, do it quickly, but none of that depressing shit, sure it makes you feel better during the song maybe, but it jus makes it worse, uh i guess you gotta work your way up, i used to listen to the depressing stuff, but then it got gradually less depressing. anyway music is good. Ill post some lyrics, cause i like lyrics.

PAIN! I swallow, i cannot keep it down.
HATE! I swallow, i cannot keep it down.
DOWN!
You before me,I can't take any more,Of what you have to offer ,My ears are sore ,Leave my feelings ,In a heap by the door ,Can't go up any futher ,Come crashing back down.

And another i like:
Failed to see,How destructive we can be.Taking without giving back,'Til the damage can be seen,Can you see?Can you see?

The more you take,The more you blame,But everything still feels the same. The more you hurt,The more you scream,The price you pay to play the game,Then all you see,And all you gain,And all you step on without shame,There are no rules,No one to blame,
The price to play the game.
Anyway, sorry for long post admins, other than the lyrics, i hope that this helped you.
Edit: This appears to be the longest post i have ever written in my life, thats purpose is supposed to help someone, also it took me, uh, 39-23...16! minutes to type.

Guns and knives are at all schools now it seems like. Or is that just me? I'm glad i live in Bakersfield and not LA though. I know we have at least drugs and alcohal (I know I spelled that wrong) at our school. Some guys tried to drink vodka out of a sprite bottle during lunch. They got expelled. Heh.

oh really, this will beat that.... some guys tried to cheat by writing answers inside the label on water bottles and gluing it back on, so after they drank their water during the test they could see the answers.... and then we couldn't drink water during tests anymore.

anyways, back on topic. i agree with TheDemonWithin; music really helps out a lot. now i spend a lot of time listening to music. sorry, i can't think of any good lyrics to post; i have a hard time thinking up songs and lyrics on the spot.

oh wait, i don't know how useful this is:
"We were meant to live for so much more/ Have we lost ourselves/ Somewhere we live inside, somewhere we live inside// Dreaming about providence/ And whether mice and men have second tries/ Maybe we've been living with our eyes half open/ Maybe we're bent and broken" --Switchfoot "Meant to Live"

Yes, music, especially music that you can relate to, or music with lyrics that you can feel. If you dont have that, its jus a bunch of noise.

Im a sophmore, I was including the year that just started.

Lyrics to In the Garage by Weezer

I've got a Dungeon Master's Guide
I've got a 12-sided die
I've got Kitty Pryde
and Nightcrawler too
Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do
I've got posters on the wall
My favorite rock group Kiss
I've got Ace Frehley
I've got Peter Criss
Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do
*Chorus*-In the garage
I feel safe
No one cares about my ways
In the garage
Where I belong
No one hears me sing this song
In the garage

Can I just observe here? This guy posts something bad in his life, either because he needs to vent/just tell someone, which helps, or to get sympathy, which is also ok cause everyone does it - yes you. You flame him, tell him to kill himself, then acuse him of having angst problems because you don't like his sig? Excuse me but who has problems? I can really relate with this guy actually, high school 'ate' alot of my friends too, hangin with the bigger kids who block you out because you tuck in your shirt :| what's with that? Then they push the chinese kid into the dirt coz he touched their ball when they threw it at him, and the teacher 'didn't see it happen'. Yeah tru stuff, course I got new nerdy mates but now they're getting into booze and drugs and won't barely talk to me anymore unless they're bored. No wonder I developed severe depression and dropped out of school.

So yah in short don't flame over something you know little about, or just don't flame at all. Yes I know I'm angsty too :p Why shouldn't I be?

Man, you're in a tough situation. I'm not sure what advice I could give you, but you have my support and encouragement. I was in the opposite situation in high school. I was one of the 'popular' kids and never had to worry about people making fun of me or ignoring me. In fact there were times that I wish some people would have ignored me. However, I never considered making fun of anyone else. I knew guys on the football team who would, but I always stood up for the person in question. People don't get to choose who they are. You're either born with certain characteristics or you're not. It's all a gamble. For me, I was fortunate to be somewhat athletic, and born in a nice part of town. Not everyone is so lucky. But that doesn't give me or anyone else the right to target people in less fortunate circumstances.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not labelling you as unfortunate, it's just a reference. Hell I'm sure high school has changed alot since I was a freshman 10 years ago. I'm sure people are different in various parts of the country too. It's disheartening to hear something like this. There's no reason for it.

I do want to encourage you to continue school. Don't opt for a GED. Stick it out and seek some help from your parents and/or teachers. Take a firm grasp on a hobby or passion and run with it. Try to get involved in a church group, or another club/group that's related to your passion. Surround yourself with people who have similar ideas, goals, and morals. There has to be other people out there in your situation, and be sure not to turn those people away with your gloomy, 'I hate people' perception. Sometimes giving a little trust to someone can go a long way.

I know it may not help much, but you do have support out there. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who'd be willing to answer questions or give you encouragement. Keep your head high, and believe in yourself. You'll be better off in the long run.

Good luck to you mate, and God speed.
