a theory

the g-man is gordon from the future. just an idea and maybe it's been posted before... there is tons of evidence pointing to this theory.. .especially in the end of HL where he talks abouut how survivors such as gordon remind him of himself... just think, the G man

anyways... what are some of your HL theories?

'bout City 17:
City 17 is a city located in an American colony
The US creates the Combine to make sure the militia don't win their independence.
The US took the Colony from Russia, that's why Russian is theire second language.

what are some of your HL theories?

To be honest, pointless. I'd rather not think about it at all and be unthought of than think about it for ages and realise that I'd known all along.

I remember someone mentioning this ages ago on the Planet Half Life forums.

Gordon Freeman

Coincidence? I think so...

[lie]Maybe G-man came back from the future to save Gordon from becoming hiimself. [/lie]

I think that if the G-man is Gordon, he'd be like 'I know what your thinking' or something like that..

You're all reading too much into this.

G-Man - Government Man.

And I think considering G-Man looks nothing like Gordon, and probably not much older that you're idea of him being from the future is pretty unlikely.

The G-Man has different eyes and he doen't wear glasses, and the G-Man is a hell lot older than Gordon
G-Government Man

Yeah, I know. Hence my "Coincidence? I think so..." thing.

I wonder how much you'll learn about the G-man in the game.

I'm guessing that somwhere very early on in HL2 a conversation with someone will go along the lines of "...that government man...". And then later on the characters will just dub him "G-Man"

Erm... The whole point was that he was from he future:p

Chris_D - I'd been wondering how they'd refer to him as well... Or even if they will at all.

I only started hating him after he shut the door to the escape 'copter on Shepherd.

Aaaaw, so close!

We're supposed to find out more about him in the game so they need some way to refer to him. I think some of the theories people have are a bit too far fetched for the HL series and if you don't read too much into it, it pretty much makes perfect sense that he is a Government Man.

He tried to help Shepherd earlier on though didn't he? When you was in that room that was FUBAR with all the radioactive stuff flooding, and you climb up to the top of the room and he unlocks a door for you.

G-Man-the father of Gordon?

Again, a bit too far fetched, but it wouldn't necessarily be a bad storyline... Wait... Star Wars?

In fact, he's the only reason that Sheperd wasn't killed, he argued to perserve him.

I don't think he closed that door, i think he just doesn't intefere in any events.

My theory is that the combine are seperate from the xen aliens. The xen use engineered organisms as there weapons, the combine use biotech. Possibly the combine are humans who have allied with an alien force, or they are a seperate force entirely and the xen don't feature. Just a few of their species (like the headcrab) still linger from the black mesa incident.

It's a good point well put. I cannae wait to find out more about him and how the other characters relate to him.
D'you think he captured Barney after he escaped or do you think Valve'll disregard Blue Shift?

Erm, what's the difference between Biotech and Engineered Organisms? I thought the Combine just used Human like weapons.

Xen Aliens do feature, the Alien Slaves are in it at least.

Well, isn't the Barney in Half Life 2 meant to be Calhoun? It's interesting how you never saw the G Man help you in Blue Shift. Maybe the G-man didn't use him because he doesn't kill anything important.

Well yours is one of the more bizzare theroies. But I think it's possible.

My favorite is the "stained glass theory". I don't feel like re-posting it here but you'll find it if you search for it.

I have bno idea whether it's Calhoun or not. Probably, as he'll probably be called Barney. I think is BS you only saw G-Man once or twice.

Engineered organisms are creatures created with a specific function(in the xen case it's being a weapon).

Biotech (biological-technology) is a combination of biological material and mechanics, i say this because the strider doesn't look wholly mechanical.

Calhoun is Barney.

Barney's name is Barney Calhoun.

hmmm, barney is cool:afro:

I wonder if he can die...

hmm.. interesting.. but i still wouldn't mind the NPC's calling him The Administrator" it just has... a nice ring to it :)

Who's to say that the "administrator" was actually the G-Man... No one ever refers to him directly as the administrator... That's even more interesting.

hmm.. well i guess im dumb that i assumed he was the one the scientists were talking about in HL1..

but i dunno.. some how.. it seems to me that the scientists were talking about G-man..

if they weren't.. then my guess is that theres another character, one that we have not been introduced to, that is in charge of the project all those scientists were working on.. and hey? maybe we cross paths with this "Administrator" in HL2. who knows..

I think the Admin is indeed the G-man. Considering its the Administrator's fault the resinance cascade occured in the first place and that the G-man directly profited from the afore mentioned event. Its safe to assume that they are the same person

G-Man: Gordon, I am yo fath-ah.
Freeman: No, bastard, I won't f***ing believe u!
Wait, im not suppose to talk
Well, my theory is that Shepard is Freeman's half brother
