Be forewarned: If you are a pet owner or a pet lover, this will be depressing.

My dog 'Pepi' was put to sleep last night. We buried her in a hole three feet deep dug in the half-frozen ground of our back yard. She suffered a medical condition that was inevitably fatal, and very likely would not have lived through the surgery needed to correct it. She was ten years old, so not really a puppy anymore, but was always a puppy to me. She was my best friend and the best pet I've ever had. She was born in the very room I'm in now, the cutest lil' thing you ever did see.

I keep remebering stuff. All the times we played in the back yard, playing tug, or playing catch with balls and frisbees and apples and everything else. She played harder, and loved it as much, as any dog I've ever seen. When we quit, I'd put them in the tree sometimes and she'd jump up to try to get them. Soemtimes she did, even though they were over my head. I remember the first time she was able to pick up the basketball that became her favorite toy in the world. She always had that ball. She picked it up every time you went in the yard, ready to have some fun. She eventually tore it to pieces, but she still carried it around at times.

This has all been a long time coming, really, but it's harder than I thought it would be, still. But I don't regret anything, which is what counts. She lived well and lived about as long as could be expected for the breed, and out-lasted the odds on another terminal illness. I remember her last afternoon, coming up to me on th couch, wagging and waiting for some love and attention. She was my dog, and I could never say no to that.

Pepi was just about the perfect dog. No other will ever replace her.

In memory of:

Princess Pepi

You will be missed.

When our cats died, although we were sad, we just wrapped them in a plastic bag and...disposed of them.

Sorry to hear about your dog, its easier to become attached to animals than a lot of people think.

If my cat died now, I don't know what I would do. That cat has been with me for a decade now, and its alwas been there when I felt lonely.

Awww man ... I'm sorry ... That's gotta suck ... I feel the exact way about my dog ...

When I was in France, my chihuahua was put to sleep, its really sad.
I know how you feel.

Man I have a dog who turns 10 this year, if he dies my world will end - I cant even begin to think how you must feel right now.

Thanks everyone. I apreciate your comments.

I'm not actually sure why I posted this still. Just a bit of catharsis I guess.

Here's a pic btw. It's goofy, but the best I could find atm.

awwwwwwww

Very sorry to hear that, I would feel the exact same way if it would happen to my dog (and sadly, one day it will ;()....

I use have a guniea pig named Jamie, she died from illness. It sucked, she wasnt even a year old. :( She use to chase our other guniea pig Brownie aroun and pee on my bed. A while later I finally found another guniea pig named Cappuchino. She had babies, and my cat Tort killed one of them. :( Then a while later Cappuchino died, but I still had two of Jamie's babies, they were both black like their mom and were named Haunter and, uhhh, I may have repressed his name or something, it was anoter pokemon name, similar to Haunter. Well they both died before they were a year old. :( But we still had brownie, their dad, by now he was four years old, usually guniea pigs live to four, hardly ever to five. He died last year at my mom's apartment, he lived to be five, that's a long life for a guniea pig.

And we are getting one or two or three more next week!

;( this thread makes me sad, im miles away from my lovely little cats. i hope they are okay...
Im sorry about your Dog, Dogs really are mans best friend....

I had a dog that was put to sleep on New Years Day ;(

she was 15, she lost control of her legs and bladder and flies were getting to her. I cried so much...

She was happy before she got really old, she would shake your hand and was really kind...

this is just so sad, almost made me cry ;(
I´m sorry about your dog.
I´ve also lost a pet,
I had a cat that died when she was only about 5 years. Fell in a well. I coudnt sleep at all and stayed away from school for a week. :(

Sorry to hear about your dog..been there..I have lost two dogs. I still got one and hes 13 years old :) haha the old bastard is older than the kids around my block..Hes not sick or anything tho and i hope he will live atleast a few years more. Its a Dash hound(dunno if thats the correct name). My mom once met a Dash hound that was 18 years old...i hope he can beat that ;D

I'm really sorry to hear that Phisionary. I have a dog myself, Cossette. She's my best friend, so I know how you must be feeling :(

:( Only pets I've ever lost are rats, but they only live for a few years so you can't afford to get attached to them. Still saddening, but nothing compared to losing a best friend of ten years.

Well, we did lose our first cat Victor, but he had it coming :p
