Hi,

Call me weird but, i was just thinking that what if our world & many other worlds in our solarsystem were just like little places. eg this pic

Its abit of a crappy diagram but i dint have much time.

well duh they are

earth is part of a 9 planet solar system which is part of a billion star galaxy which is one of an unknown possibly infinite amount of other galaxies in the universe

If you mean a multi-verse then thats a commonly accepted theory.

It all makes perfect sense now!

I knew someone would mention this, but just think now that all of the whole galaxy is like a planet & then there is another galaxy just like a planet & so on.

Its abit far fetched, but none of us know, i just thought id mention it.

you mean a universe like a planet because
just think now that all of the whole galaxy is like a planet & then there is another galaxy just like a planet & so on.
makes no sense - eg how could we see other stars!!!
yes the multiple universe's theory - quite a common line of thought either as separate entities or as other dimensional entities overlaid infinitely on our own reality

you really should have done some research at the very least by checking wikipedia or googling

I don't know how he would have found this on w/pedia without knowing what he was looking for. :p

oh, you mean like a moon orbits a planet. Whcih orbits the sun. whcih orbits inside the galaxy, which orbits something at the centre of the universe? Well the galaxies are getting further away from eachother.

Are you talking about galaxy clusters? I think our galaxy is part of a 9 galaxy galaxy cluster.

listen to the rim-fire
the universe is expanding and our view of other galaxies seems to suggest that they are not moving in orbit because
1. their relative position to our galaxy is fairly constant
2. orbiting requires a central source of gravity which is unlikely as the galaxy is moving outward from a central point (big bang theory)

note that this all theory not fact but the best and most likely scenarios that exist given the limits of our knowledge

Ever heard of the force known as "the great attraction"? It is basically a huge attractive force but not strong enough to defeat the speed the universe expands (yet...).

well yes i have - it requires us to consider that a supermassive black hole/ singularity exists at the centre of the universe which is entirely possible
however, a gravitational force would pull bodies into an orbit around it based on its own internal axial rotation regardless of whether bodies are moving away from it or not
however, 1. the galaxies are not moving in orbit or else they are all moving in a, relative orbit which makes no sense
2. the galaxies will never slow down in theory because there is no frictional repulsive force that exists in a vacuum

There is no centre to the universe. Just as there is no centre to the Earth's surface. (NB how I said no centre to the surface, not no centre of the Earth - to definine the Earth's centre requires another (3rd) dimension)

Also bodies will orbit about a centre of mass of a collection of bodies.
