Able to buy CSS without HL2?

I was wondrring, because I dont plan to buy HL2 over steam (cos of a crappy internet connection) would I be able to buy CS:S on its own through steam?

well if you have a bad internet connection, why would you even buy css? lan parties...? hl2 makes more sense to buy over steam instead of css. i mean, either one... you gotta still download lots of data...

but on topic, i doubt css will be stand alone... but maybe later or something. ehhh who knows... check steam tomorrow for pricing options, i'd say.

I dont see why you would'nt be able to get it by itself, they only said about packages, there not posting that you can, or cannot, buy them stand alone. As I want DOD:S, I dont want to buy silver or gold, I want to buy DOD:S in my own time..

I dont have a bad connection for games, I got around 50 ping on CS:S. Its just when it comes to 4gb downloads, on 128k it would take you 5 days.

The whole point of the preloads phase is to allow people with cack connections to download through steam also...
