About the Car... And the dialogue...

Um, in story terms you did 'score' big time by getting that car. It's not a childish or lame term to use at all unless you're using it because you've felt a girl's boobies or something.

Teehee! He said boobies!

Sorry capteeni but you can't blame Valve for your issues. Not caring about kids is bad enough I guess but your preconceptions regarding Alyx simply because she said you'd scored seem pretty off.

I think even Gordon would be a little taken aback if Alyx started swearing like a truck driver, for that matter.

"Gordon, we have to get this f*cking packet to White Forest."

"Hey Gordon, it's the f*cking radar again."

"Why the f*ck would the combine put a f*cking roadblock here?"

"Watch out, Gordon! It's a f*cking trap!"

"Hunters! F*CK!!"
I'd love a character like that, actually. That's how I'd behave in those situations. I swear like a sailor IRL. I know there're people out there in the post-Combine world who are the same.

"Can't we go five f*cking minutes without running into some goddamned antlions?"

"F*cking zombies! I HATE zombies!"

"Goddamned Combine and their f*cking infinite forces. It's like they're everywhere. I mean, shit, man. You know?"

Lol, guys now your going way too high.

The dumped dialog is no by any mean that it needs more F-words, but it means it has this Teen stuff like Alyx's "...Scored!'. You know how LAME that was? made me feel 13 all over again.

First I found Alyx's attractive..in a good way, but now the irony, I don't even care for her. She's now just a kid for me.

it's just that, small little things can make huge differences.

It's not like "scored" is a monopoly of the younger crowd.

Also, should you not agree with that, Alyx IS part of a younger crowd (early twenties).

Taking offense at such a small thing (that really can't be considered a "thing" at all) is pretty stupid, IMO.

Mmm, I've seen recordings. The voice acting in Episode Two is much more unenergenetic than Episode One.

This is the most trivial fault with the game I have ever heard somebody point out.

She said "scored". Oh dear, what on God's green earth is a word like that doing coming out of the mouth of a young woman? It's like high school all over again. Alyx is clearly an elaborate jailbait trap.

I guess but your preconceptions regarding Alyx simply because she said you'd scored seem pretty off.

Agreed. I thought her enthusiasm for what was basically a heap of junk was supposed to be a joke and showed just what a world she's grown up in never having seen a "real" car in her life.

The car itself was cool.

The magnusson devices and radar fail miserably.

You guys are turning a simple "lol." moment into a "OMG SUCH INTOLERABLE VOCABULARY I AM BAFFLED WTF!" rant.

Listen to this man! he has completed all of the achievements in the game! he knows what he's talking about! (Check his siggy.)

Don't be jealous :naughty:

I just have 4 left. :(

Anyways, I'm having a hard time understanding what this dude means by childish scripture... I thought that the words they chose to put into the game were very believable. In another way I don't think that capteeni knows wtf he's talking about. What would you say to a car like that after all you've seen your whole life has been wire frames and boxes on wheels? "Scored" is believable for Alyx' character because she's never seen a car that's even half put together like the charger. And let's not forget that Alyx is in her early twenties, but still hasn't had much room to grow up, so she might as well be a 13 year old in a 20 year olds body. I could salve this quicker by asking you what you would say in a situation like that.

You haven't seen a real car in years, you haven't even ridden in one your whole life, your crush drives the coolest looking car which you have ever seen in your life, which is in pieces to him, over a long broken bridge, demonstrating it's power. I'd say the same damn thing. Maybe in a different phrase, like "Holy shit! This is awesome!!" But that's not the point. There's no way to tell what someone would say in that situation, but if I were to ponder a guess, I would be just as surprised as Alyx.
