I was wondering how I could find out the ACTUAL ghz of my processor listed above. Under properties after I right click my computer, it says 2.00 ghz, which I know is untrue. So I was wondering if there was some program or some test online to tell me the actual ghz of it. Thanks guys. :afro:

.... Seriously? Because it seems faster than a P4 2.66 computer which my friend owns.

AMD Processors are far more efficient than Intel processors though.

Hence the (3200+) AMD gives them a model number comparable to what a P4 processor at that speed (P4 3.2ghz) can process.

In a word. AMD Rocks.

i don't know the exact reason, but the measurements for different chips aren't the same. so a p4 at 2.0 ghz is not the same an an amd at 2.0 ghz.

i *think* :S

So you are saying that the AMD 3200+ is equal to a P4 3.2, even though it is saying 2.00 ghz under properties under my computer? :eek:

Well it's actually better than the P3.2 because the new 64 bit chips kick ass :)

Well I am going to make sure my friend buys a 64 bit AMD. Only because of what you guys are saying. Because his P4 should run smooth and he also recently reformatted. You would think his computer would run awesome again, but nooo it actually runs slower. I think it got worse. Shitty Dells... Oh well..

actually it's just as a good as a 3.2 ghz athlon, but they don't exist. And the rating system is a bitt of nowadays. It's basically beats the shit out of almost any intel.

All right. Definetly an AMD processor. Thanks guys. We appreciate it.

Athlon 64 cannot compare to the newest P4 on LGA775...look at RELIABLE benchmarks from Maximum PC and be enlightened.

I would check out this true Intel supporter's benchmarks and even they show the LGA775 behind Athlon 64. By the way:
560 = 3.6GHz
550 = 3.4GHz
540 = 3.2GHz
530 = 3.0GHz

What kind of benchmarks were they? Do they use a fair test bed or do they get a tower from Alienware and one from Falcon for the P4 vs A64 benchmarks? LGA775 uses PCI Express so did they benchmark with a equal card (6800 Ultra AGP vs 6800 Ultra PCI Express) at the same clock? How did the DDR2 memory used compare with the DDR for the other systems compare?

Actually an Athlon XP 3200+ is as good as a 3.2ghz Athlon, an Athlon 64 3200+ is much better.

The AMD Athlon 64 3200+ is a little better I'd say than a Pentium 4 3.4ghz. See while the Intel cpu's have higher clock speeds, they do a lot less work per clock cycle. The AMD processors do a lot more work per clock cycle, making them more efficient, this is true in the Athlon XP's and the new Sempron's as well. And the Athlon 64's are even better, needing only a 2.0ghz clock speed to match a 3.4ghz Pentium 4, or even beat it sometimes. You have a kick ass processor.
:cheers:

what does an athlon 64 fx-53 compare to if it was pentium?

A 3.8ghz Extreme Edition? Even if there was one, yeah right, A 64-FX 53 performs just about the same as the 3.4ghz Extreme Edition, although the FX tends to be better in games while the EE tends to be better in apps. A lot of people here are kinda biased towards AMD and ATi, although I do like AMD much better than Intel. Although because it's cheaper, is 64-bit, and performs better in games, the FX-53 is probably the better choice.

Tom did a little bit of OCing and even though those future CPUs won't perform exactly like this it will at least give you an idea.

lol Asus, u got links for everything :p
Oh far from everything. ;)
I do have a pretty good memory and know how to quickly search online to find what I want though.

No real answer. Each CPU performs differently in each application. Just look at the benchmarks for the programs you use and judge by price as well.

The Athlon 64 2800+ runs at 1.8GHz and competes with a 2.8GHz P4.

and i could OC to the same performance as a +3000 right? but i not sure i would want to. +2800 seems like enough to me now anyway.

Alienware.com is selling a 3.8 ghz EE edition... and a 4.0 ghz (non EE)

You can't really say one processor is better than the other, it's most just a personal preference.. AMD has labeled there latest cpus with 2000+ 2800+ 3200+ becuase they claim that theirs are just as good if not better running than the equivelant Intl Pentium Processor. AMD athlon 64 has hypertransport where the Intel chips have HyperThreading. But that's not it, you can't judge them becuase of the other specs we have to talk about, FSB and stuff like that, the FSB for a Intel chip is about 800mhz on a good machine. So if you have a Intel Pentium 4 2.4ghz 400mhz FSB you can't really comapre it to an Athlon that has more powerful specs.... thats my perfercen
