He is an awesome character! He should be discovered in a Xen base in the artic getting rescued by Freeman! Who agrees? (I mostly mean with him coming back, not how I want him to be first seen)

Hopefully we will also see some Race X in episode 3 like the pit drone or voltigore! (maybe even a pit worm!)

Anyway, In a way I agree. I think I said something like this on the Steam forums, so I may as well type it again and expand on it.

I like the aspect of bringing Shephard back, but the problem is that he would have to be an NPC. In OpFor, he is the player character, just like Gordon in HL. Valve would have to hire a suitable voice actor, create another animation library created using military personnel, use an actor/actors for model references, maybe even create new textures and materials for his clothing (such as a MARPAT uniform for example) and integrate him seamlessly into the plot, complete with some sort of suitable Marine back story (the full extent of his training etc). The problem is that he never speaks, so it would be like Gordon talking. I don't think Valve would do all of this for an episode.

Also, you should prepare a flame suit, because A LOT of people don't like Shephard.

I love posting ideas and knowing others because they are AWESOME (trust me, I am a nut head for new stuff and ideas for them) And I'm pretty surprised people don't like him.

But srsly, this is a bad idea. Gearbox did nothing good for the HalfLife saga. BlueShift was okay, I guess, though..
 
I don't think Adrian brings anything to the table as a character besides, 'hey, I was in the unit sent to kill you'. I'm always down for more monster variety in any game though, and would welcome the critters from Race X in this expansion. Not that they'd necessarily be any funner than other critters, but because of the ****storm that would ensue from rabid fans.

You know what? I liked Shepard better than Gordon Freeman, because Shepard has an explanation for being a killing machine that doesn't imply that he is a psychopath.

Why is it that people think Adrian is an awesome character? To us he's just a pair of floating hands with a gun. He never said anything, never did anything more than what the player said to do... He has even less NPC interaction than Gordon, making him not a character, but a vessel for player command... I think the only cool thing people see about him is that he's a soldier, and Army men are still cool it seems...

Definetely I'd like him back..He was an awesoem character that went well with most people.

But I don't really know how he would be brought back into the story.Maybe an expansion with The Seven Hour War in which he plays a big role.

We have his diary entries in the manual. We've heard more from his character than from Gordon if you include that.

Freeman is awesome too but he obviously isn't just a normal scientist.

Shephard being just a soldier is a big asset to like him.He's just a grunt yet he persists,he fights threw the adversity to survive just like everybody else and does.
A soldier will always appeal since many people will feel for him,would see themselves in his position.
Unlike Tower or Jackson or the rest of them he manages to survive.
He's awesomeness is that he's just a regular guy that persists.
The G-Man also liked him apparently or wants him in his big scheme of things.
 
I'd like Race X back, I'm really a console gamer (had a hell of a time tracking down the PS2 port of HL1) so really I never got to experience them. However, I don't really see a way to get them coherently into an about 7-chapter game. I reckon that they could perhaps be the main enemy of HL3, and OP was their backstory.

Or perhaps I am again spouting a colossal load of naff onto the internet.
 
I have to admit I've never played OF, though someday I would like to. I'm familiar with the concept and I've watched some of it on YouTube.

If Adrian doesn't come back in Ep 3 (as some people have pointed out, that might be difficult), I think it would be a good idea for him to be brought back in a third party expansion pack just like the original OF. (God knows if Valve worked on it themselves we honestly might not see it until the next decade.) Personally, I think it would be cool if it had essentially the same concept as OF did -- the G-man brings back Adrian, and he is sent into the ranks of the "opposing force" -- I was thinking Civil Protection, since any higher up and he would need to have transhuman surgery -- to work from the inside, kind of like Barney. I think it would be a cool expansion on the original HL2, we'd get to see more of City 17 and learn how the Combine works, and it would be a great tribute to the original OF. That's how I think it should be done.
 
For a minute there i thought you meant Adrian From ROCKY.

But,yeah they should bring him back.
 
How many people who want Shephard to return does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

I should've thought up a harder question.
 
It doesn't matter. If there's one he'll just think about Shephard, and if there's more they'll just have a conversation about him.
