Apparantly Advance Wars: Days of Ruin takes place in a post-apocalytic Earth where the last survivors have joined into various factions and are warring over the last resources. No Orange Star, no Black Hole, no Lash and no Hawke! There's only going to be 4 factions, the green side having been dumped (they should have canned yellow, TBH). It seems to be a western-aimed game and the release date in Japan is to be announced.

CO powers are being toned down and Dual Strike has been removed. This is going to be a very different game. Let's just hope they don't break it.

Do you know if they ever finished the translation of Super Famicom Wars(Super Nintendo Wars)?
I so want to play that game in English.

I don't think it was ever released outside of Japan, and I doubt they'll translate it now unless they put it with an Advance Wars or Battalion Wars game.

Nono, I meant fan translation, I remember there being one in the works, just can't remember where.

:\
I liked the cartoonyness to AW.
Eagle ftw.

Eagle rocks. 2 moves for the price of one!

I really don't like the new art direction

Bleh. I liked it when it was cartoony.

Same old thing was good... I'd prefer to hold out for Fire Emblem, though.

Still, I'll give it a spin when it comes out.

Hmm, kind of glad I didn't hold out for this now. Rock on Dual Strike! \m/

So, it's out and I got it. It's actually quite good, and I like the new selection of air units. Late campaign levels are just as hard as in previous titles.. ;D

The new Map Editor is really good. I managed to make a Europe map with it, albeit Italy is a little flucked up.
First CO I looked for was the Air-Specialized one.
Tasha ftw! :D

Yes. It is funky awesome. Although I dun liek how they handle COs now, but the lack of ability to Dual Strike (GOD DAMN, LOOK AT THE CPU TOTALLY CRUSH YOUR BRILLIANT STRATAGY COS YOU DESTROYED ENOUGH UNITS FOR THEM TO DUAL STRIKE, NOW THEY HAF TWO TURNS, OH LOOK YOU LOOSE) is decent; the storyline keeps that essential AWars humour somehow despite being all about the apocalypse (seriously, I don't know how they managed that). The combat additions are quite awesome, too (ability to built temp seaports and airports becomes really ****ing critical) and all in all it's probably something you should at the very least look into.

I had it the day it came out (my first AW game), and I'm finding it pretty hard. I've got S rank on all the main missions, and all S and one A on the side training missions (haven't done all those yet though, some are really hard).

I also haven't unlocked any extra CO's yet :(.

I'm not gonna get done for a while. Basically I can only really play it on the train too and from school, and sometimes I don't even do that.

The 2nd and the 3rd were the best. Not digging the current one.

If anyone has Wifi, I'll play you this weekend! :D
Single player isn't as good, but the style of art is actually quite nice.

The toning down of powers probably makes it much more balanced, but how does is rank compared to the old ones for fun? I really don't like the new style.

Wi-Fi is the best new change.
Also, does anyone happen to know where I can get a toned down picture of Tasha for my avatar? :D

In terms of fun I believe the strategy has become a lot deeper and more fun; there is a lot more emphasis on resupply, and less over-reliance on air units (a lot of shit can attack air now). What at this point I really dislike are the new COs; I don't get such a big sense of, um, difference between them? There are differences between them, the game says so, but I don't feel it like I did in 2 and 3.

They've done the whole Wars World/Black Hole story to death. It is time for a new world with new characters. The devs were prolly getting tired of doing the same thing over and over again imo and wanted to try something a little different. I can't blame them really. :dozey: I don't mind the new art style, but indeed, the characters need to have more, well...character. :P BTW: I'm an avid AWs fan myself and I'd own any one of you on any map If I could! :D

Explain to me how this is "Advance Wars" if it's not on the GBA platform.

TBH I think they did it just to be more appealing to the west.

Because DS Wars sounds damn stupid.

Liez! Black Hole + Wars World was one of the most awesome stories ever.

Dual Strike was a clever thing with the third game, I thought.

RIOMHAIRE GET ON MSN.

I generally only go on in the evening, not 7AM. Stupid timezones.

PAH. ADJUST YOUR SLEEPING SCHEDULE TO FIT ME! >=O

Do iiiit!

Ontopic, though, the introduction of a lot more Indirect units is pretty helpful. Also, battleships can move and fire in the same turn.
