Just recently came across the original game in the Still Life series. Which i thought was the 1st.

Its called Post Mortem cant believe i didn't know about this considering Still Life is one of my favorite games.

So this thread is about good Adventure games..

Here are a few...

http://pc.ign.com/objects/016/016145.html - Indigo Prophecy

Honorable mention goes to Myst only beat the original i have the 1st 3, game is crazy hard.

The Longest Journey- it's a point-and-click adventure, but it has a very interesting story

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey - sequel to Longest Journey, the controls are wonky, but still worth it

Griiiim Faaaandaaaango!

Hell the whole Monkey Island swag is still fun to run through. If you're a newbie, great; if you're an oldbie, with luck you'll have forgotton everything.

A Vampyre Story

There is only 4 or 5 snippets to read.

I love it, it just brings me back to the old days of fandango and monkey island.

Dreamfall: TLJ, and Psychonauts(although that's got platforming n such too...).

Psychonauts. More of an action/platfprmer, yes, but still adventure, and it's f***ing amazing.

Played dreamfall. I found it to be one of the greatest games ive ever played.

Oh! Oh! Oh! How are we forgetting Sam and Max?

The new S&M's are really good. had a good laugh with them.

The Discworld games were pretty cool. The first one was head-frying though, having to do all that L-space time travel.

S&M, lol

Sam & Max(original)

Full Throttle

Day of the Tentacle

Grim Fandango(a MUST)

Beneath a steel sky

Sanitarium

Oh man, you played Beneath a Steel Sky as well? D:

Recently purchased/played:

- Overclocked
- The Lost Crown
- Perry Rhodan
- Reprobates

Ah, my favorite genre. The cream of the crop are of course all of the classics that can be played with the ScummVM, but there are many great new ones like

Dracula: Origin
The Abbey
Overclocked: A History of Violence
Undercover: Operation Wintersun
The Experiment
Art of Murder: FBI Confidential
The Black Mirror

Broken Sword 2.5 (free)
So Blonde (by Steve Ince of Broken Sword, Beneath A Steel Sky, and The Witcher among others)
Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals
Runaway 1: A Road Adventure
Runaway 2: The Dream of the Turtle
Secret Files: Tunguska

The new Sam & Max Series (ex-LucasArts)
A Vampyre Story (ex-LucasArts)
Mata Hari (ex-LucasArts)
The Whispered World
Gray Matter
Deathspank
(Monkey Island meets Diablo and created by Ron Gilbert--ex-LucasArts)

How do you guys rate Syberia 1 & 2?
I would rate the first one an 8 and the second one a 9. Of course, I am really biased in favor of traditional point-n-click adventures with gorgeous art, so make of this what you will. :E

What kind of game is this in terms of story, im very much into a serious story rather then something like Sam and Max. Which i didn't like at all.

Its why i loved Still Life so much, serious story great art.

This as well, what kind of story would you put it under?

Sins of the Fathers was the only one I liked, the others were too much about breaking ground using live action and then 3D, which kinda killed the series. I loved the graphic novel, and the theme music, which was awesome compared to the bloopy noises of my previous Amiga game machine.

Worth noting Michael Dorn was also in SotF, as well as luke skywalker. fact.

First was much better than the second imho, I loved Longest Journey even though I played it fairly recently, shitty graphics and all. Dreamfall just didn't match up.

There's still moments of absurdity but on the whole it's a fairly serious story.

Man, I just bought Dreamfall and Longest Journey off of steam and its so damn slow paced. I got bored of it the day I bought it.

I keep hearing that the DS is the new hope for the Adventure Genre, and not only because ScummVM works on a flashcard. Anyone played Professor Layton for instance? It looks interesting, but like most DS games, I haven't actually thought of buying it... though Level 5 / Studio Ghibli's upcoming Ninokuni is surely something I'm going to buy. Even if it's not a Nausicaa RPG.

They said they were going to make a third game after they completed finalizing the release (Patches etc) for Conan.

Can't wait, I've been playing them for the story, which is amazing

I played the second game before the first, but its still amazing to see the same locations such as venice

ScummVM works on a flash card? BRB.

Adventure games always pissed me off slightly as I often got stuck in them. But then again, I probably played most as a kid.

Anyway, I can think of one game I'd like to play right now and that's Blade Runner. I only played a bit, at it seemed good. And the atmosphere was awesome.

Get Nightlong, if you like Blade Runner.

*knock, knock*

i really wouldn't like to spoil your fun here, but did anyone notice that most of these games are older? speaks volumes of today's gaming standards.

adventure games were amongst the first to go. oh these sad times we live in.

anyway...continue on....try Zork or LBA

LBA2, **** yeah!

I'm sure someone is about to correct/disagree with me on this but I consider Phoenix Wright an adventure game, and a damn good one at that. Never played the sequels though.

I will agree. Same goes for Time Hollow and Hotel Dusk. :)

Phoenix Wright sequals are osm.

Zork is overrated. Yes, it has the iconic White House and it started the Infocom golden age, but I will pick "A Mind Forever Voyaging" as Infocom's finest. Do you want to talk about text adventures? Here I am! They are not dead, you know? There's a thriving scene full of new games by really talented young authors.
