I was thinking of buying a radeon 9800, does anyone know wich brand/model is best? I now have 512 2700 ram, is upgrading to 1Gb worth it?

Also, for how much should I sell my ti 4600, considering I already have a buyer, but I don't want to ask for more than it's worth (he knows nothing about computer hardware).

Thanks for your help, and sorry if this type of thread is annoynigly common.

Oh, and could somoene tshow me a good european sonline store?

Concerning the 9800, Sapphire is a very good make. They are often actually faster than ATI original (not by very much though, but they are still good). About the ram: If you can afford it without a doubt, its worth it, or if you use heavy graphics programs. About the Ti4600: Take a look around on the net, try to find different prices. Then go from there.

512 Ram is fine imo, especially at that speed...i have a 9700 pro that is comfortably oc'd, prolly find 1 for 250~ somewhere...as for the 9800, i would wait for the 9900 unless HL2 comes out be4 then...gl

right now ive got about 500$ saved (canadian dollars), so i still need about 150 for the 9800pro 128, but with all the talk about the 9900 pro, ive been wondering if i should just wait.

It wont be that much of an improvement, probly not even as much as going from a 9700pro-9800pro so its up to you.

I've heard from several sources that ATi's R360 chip (the one they will be using for 9900pro cards) is basically the same thing as their R350 chip (used by 9800 pro cards) only with a bit higher clock speeds. Hence the term, overclocked 9800pro. You can probably expect 9900pro running a bit warmer then 9800pro.. Maybe ATi will at least update the core heatsink.

I'll be getting the 9800pro and If I chose I will overclock it myself.

It dosnt matter what brand you get. All the 9800pro's are the same and the sapphire is not faster then any other brand. Though sapphire is good.

It kinda depends on what heatsink and fan you want on your card....the ATi and the Xtasy 9800pro are made exactly the same.

Some of the sapphire cards have different heatsinks and fans though. The different heatsinks and fans are probably just as effective as the regular ones.

Ati, xtasy, sapphire. Those are the most popular. i suggest a Xtasy card...it comes with a free t-shirt. :cheese:
