I beg ID to make a sequel to this Doom game...on Earth...if that's coming after this one...I really really hope they do it because I am so impressed with the game and I love long first person shooters that take a long time to pass...so PLEASE ID...MAKE DOOM HELL ON EARTH AGAIN!! That would be sooooo cool.

Yeah, ID's doing something completely different (not doom or quake) after this. I'm sure they'll outsource an expansion to another developer. The Hell on Earth idea is absolutely the route they should go.

Ok....if you think doom 3 was long and took a long time to pass, you should stop playing fps's now.

Doom 3 does take a good while to play through and beat if you read every PDA, and take your time. Rushing through it, of course, will end in a 12-14 hour game.

However, I've been easily playing 20 hours, and I still have atleast 10 to go at this rate.

Does it really matter if Doom 3 is on earth or not. You'll be still in dark shadowy cramped quaters with occasional windows showing the blissfull green landscape being replaced by the red scars of hell :)

Well maybe they could make improve the pacing a little bit. Have scary indoor section AND cool outdoor sections. What a novel idea!

Same here. I think I'll hit the 30 hour mark before I'm finished.

Was the game being so dark a good idea ?

You can change it if you want.

The game is way too dark, how can i light it up just a little?

Code:
seta r_brightness "1.1"
seta r_gamma "1.1"

The game is a little dark for most people by default. I did not have this problem with my system, but i've seen it on two other systems already.
Unfortunately the games gamma value can not be changed from the menu, the only adjustment there is the brightness. This doesn't help us here because already bright areas are getting too bright and wash out (see menu font). The necessary gamma value can only be changed through a variable. 1.0 is the standart value. Try to experiment with 1.1-1.3 and stay with what looks best to you.

I use 1.1.

Thanks, but I'm not wasting my money on that game. Even if I would, I can't as Mexicans don't know what Doom 3 is.

hell on earth would be the excuse to put the double shotgun back in the game! :D

great...sounds like Halo 2

Took me 15 hours it didn't feel complete at the end in my opinion. Just ended, still a good game.

maybe ID can improve on the storyline for an expansion like Hell on Earth.
i mean since the most common complain was about Doom3 lacking story and all.
perhaps having a few more pple survive would add to the story and make things a bit better.

I think the most common complaint about Doom 3 was that the gameplay got a repetative after a while.

Over here the most common complaint is its not out yet.

At least by us honest souls who wont haxxor it.

I think i heard, that id is making new wolfenstein on D3 engine..but it might no be true.

Hell on Earth is much better than Hell on Mars. Just think, Earth has cities, oceans, forests, towns, streets, fields, cars, animals, trees and a breathable atmosphere. There are so many more possibilities for different kinds of scares to keep things exciting, imagine entering a forest overtaken by Hellish growth, driving down the dead streets at night as zombies roam the town, being on a boat in the middle of a lake that is boiling from the heat of some massive demonic serpent from Hell's rivers of blood. Way better than Imp #243 jumping out of a conveniently place little room for the 100th time.

For that reason, I'd bet that Doom 4 or whatever will take place on an oil rig or a sewer. The awesome idea you proposed is just too original. :p
ID has never, ever made a game like that, and i'm willing to bet that they won't start now.
