After we received some screenshots of Half-Life 2: Aftermath from Valve’s Doug Lombardi yesterday, I thought we wouldn’t hear of this expansion for another month or so. But the fellows over at Mod HQ have received a confirmation email from, you guessed it, Doug Lombardi, correcting what Gamershell.com had reported.
We're currently targeting April 24th for the release of both Aftermath and Platinum.[br]Platinum will include HL2, HL2 DM, CS: Source, DoD: Source, and Aftermath.
Now this is obviously not set in stone (Or is it?). The end of April is quite a while from now, so anything can change. Again, thanks to Mod HQ for getting this information from the Valve Gods.[br]Update: Teamkilled has also recevied information from Doug Lombardi that Half-Life Deathmatch: Source will be released with Aftermath (Bundled). Aftermath will be around $20 USD when released.[br]The Platinum Edition's price will be around $50 USD at time of release.

Damn you! But good news... even though it is more like April 24, 2007. :p

According to my calculations there's a 60% chance of this happening.

LOL ... another ship date from Doug Lombardi. Yeah sure Doug, whatever you say ;)

According to my calculations your calculations are 20% correct.

lol this is thread 99000!

Good news.

This will be another good year for gaming: Aftermath, Sin Episode, Kingdom Hearts 2, STALKER, and maybe some others i'm forgetting.

well another aftermath news post osunds like there workin hard on it :p

Excellent news, was sitting here just now thinking what to do, then i remembered that i havn't been on the forums a lot recently, as soon as the home page loaded up my bright lil eyes glowed with excitement and happiness :)

::::: Roll on April 24th :::::

Valve made a sweet move; my making EA the publisher, a lot of people (including me) will get the Steam version just not to buy the box with the EA symbol and the EA intro (shivers)

I know a stupid but utterly reasonable reason.

:| Have you played the Harry Potter series? They were the developers...

And they bought over Westwood which sucked.

I hope it comes out on retail same day as steam :) I want my box!

they are the microsoft of the gaming industry. always trying to monopolize the market by buying out its competitors. Nowadays if you want to get a new NFL game you HAVE to buy Madden because they bought the soul rights to NFL franchise games. Its because of big companies like this (that just try to capitalize on their products and maximize profits) that smaller gaming companies will never get off the ground. All EA cares about is money, and you can see this by the amount of work they put into their new games...haha, take madden for example, every year they offer 1 new update to the game (percision passing) along with the exact same game as last year, for the wonderful price of $50-$60. All the while the good, new and innovative games never get heard of because their developers get stomped on by the gaming giant that is EA.

Oh and I also hate EA cuz they wont bring back the Road Rash series...

aight.
so anyone want to guess how many times people here are gonna post saying to add another year to the announced date

oh well, nice to have a date but we'll see :)

Why do valve bother with release dates? they just end up doing this:

Date one: 1st of April
Date two: 1st of June
Date three: Winter
Date four: January

etc

I suggest a backwards method, that becomes more accurate slowly eg:
Date one: Before 2007
Date two: 2006
Date three: End of 2006
Date four: Mid-winter '06
Date five: 2nd November 06

etc

Yay!!

Im getting it right off Steam (If you can :dork:)

My personal reason:
They do stuff like produce a fairly popular game like bf2, which I buy because my friends play it, and then they release an expansion that lets people play on regular "pre-expansion" servers with new and better weapons and equipment. It's like VALVe would force you to pay 10 dollars through steam to use colt, ak, or awp in cs. VALVe _could_ do this, but they are not EA.

EA is on my oktowarez-list for forever.

[on topic]Yay, a release date! April is so far away, though :/.[/on topic]

.bog.

Alright a release date! The April Aftermath....hopefully that is the final date. No delays please! Here's an idea Valve: How about surprising us by releasing it in Feb/March :bounce:

Would have been better if it had been announced as April 1st.

24th sounds feasible, not too long to wait really.

Oh happy days. :|

Oh and btw... You guys seemed to have missed this part of the email / announcement / thing...

Aftermath and Half-Life 2: Platinum are due out on April 24.

HL1 DM will be included in Aftermath, and released fairly close to the same time.
