I am not a happy camper. I bought my copy of HL2 this afternoon, then spent most of the day hanging out with a buddy of mine. I finally get home, hyped to stay up into the wee hours of the morning playing. I put CD 1 into the tray and...nothing. I can't read CD 1...it's a DEFECTIVE CD!!!!!

Well, heck, I've payed for the game and I know I can download it from Steam since I have a valid cd key, right? WRONG! Steam won't take my cd key unless the game is loaded!

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!! Why me?!?!?!?

Maybe your cd-rom or dvd drive is crap. It happens.

Nope. I put cd 2 in and read the readme file just fine. Couldn't even do that with cd 1. They sold me a frickin drink coaster instead of an install cd.

i dont like promoting warez stuff here but dl the 1st cd load it with a virtual drive and then load the rest. I did that for dawn of war. I bought it from best buy the 2nd cd was broken in 2 i dled it and burned it and now it works perfectly.
