I woke up this morning, came online, went to the forums and went to post in the arena, then to my shock I see that the thread is now closed!?!? What happened!?
 
the thread was EVIL!!

Ya Badger is away, and im pretty sure Farrowlesparrow wouldn't close it either.

Im confused, there weren't any posts that warranted closing the thread I thought.
 
Yeah, but if you check all the spamming threads like WAF (Word Association Fotball), Word Unassociation, threads like that and check the last post.
 
True, but the Arena thread was around since like the beggining, and it was created by mrBadger who is now a mod.
 
OK.. I know a bit about this. I am not sure if i can tell or not. but anyway. There where some complains about this thread. some people even made negative post's about it at other hl2 forums and even sierra said that hl2.net was nagative in the hl2 community

"a disease, sucking the life out of the undiluted HL2 community" was the exact quote I think. I am serious dissapointed in this company now.

anyway. I think badger (when he's back) or farrowlesparrow can explain it better then me
 
WHAT?!! Its not like it was insulting anyone, its in the OFF-topic forum, and Sierra said that hl2.net was negative!?!?!? Wow ive now lost alot of faith in them, besides we are now the largest HL2 community out there.

Yes we are the biggest community.
Its quite sad really.
And i agree with you Mullinator, it didnt insult anyone (if it did i cant understand how).
 
All those threads where spam fest's but why wherent they closed earlier?

I found those threads to be hilarious, better then 'OMG! HALFLIFE 2 DELAYED!!!' And 'will my X-Tron 1000 run half life 2?!?!' and all the other stupid threads. That was our source of humour damn it!!! humour!!!!!!
 
The thing I don't understand is why closing a harmless thread like "Word Unassociation". It had no flames, it was just a cool spam thread. But it was one thread. It didnt affect the forum, or the forums, it just people laugh. It was a cool thread o_O and really harmless.
 
Why! Why did it have to die so young! 2000 posts was a goal...

Oh well.

Place kinda boring and all now.
 
Wheres farrow? im sure he'll open it ;(. Have u seen how many threads have been closed lately i think there is some sorta moderator crack down. cant blame them with the amount of dic*heads around lately.

I've seen basically every half-life 2 forum in my search for new info, but this was the only forum that i really liked...this is the best half-life 2 communtiy on the internet...we are no disease...we are a cure
 
uh threads auto close when they get to 100 pages or a little more.... or they do in orther V-bullentin sites that might be what happend...
 
The last post in the threads that are locked say that they've been locked lol. So I dont think its that...
 
oh i dident know that... i havent post there after my bann... uh i guess its old like "the person above you" and "word football" i think we should let it go..

The forum has got more boring now.....not that its totally boring....just not as fun without those threads

Yeah I agree some of those fun OT topics should be allowed, I mean it IS an OT board
 
I can see why Munro would choose to close them on the grounds of spam - and it was he who closed them - but I just don't know why NOW...
And I'm surprised that this forum's been labelled scum or whatever by Sierra... Why? Does anyone have a link to such a statement?

It's just occurred to me that it might be this kind of post and the countless ones along the lines of:

and such like that have dispeased the almighty, ever-name-changing publishers...
<Sighs> The Arena was fun though... Let's all take a moment of quiet reflection people.
 
Well, having been out all day i have now seen what has taken place.

Munro closed all those threads because they basically were spam.

The Arena was sadly among those threads. I'm talking with Munro about it, to see what will be happening with it in the future. For now though it will remain closed.

EVIL, i would also like to know which (if any) sites have been bad mouthing us. So i an go over there and have tell them to stop, with extreme prejudice.

Seriously though, i would like to know what has been said. To me it sounds like they are envious of the vast size of our...forums. :naughty:
 
I liked that thread, I got the 1337th post in it.
 
not much point heading over to the forums anymore i just like the fun threads im sure im not the only one and i hope munro realises this before this site goes to bits
