airboat stuck

I reached a place guarded by two rocket-launching APCs where you have to drive the airboat over a wooden ramp to jump to a platform leading into a sewer pipe. What do you have to do to make the jump? I've tried about 20 times and always crash, even when the airboat goes up the middle of the ramp.

Try a larger run up

I drove the boat up over the debris pile next to the ramp to get into the inner channel. Is that a problem?

The boat is backed as far as it will go. Still no luck.

You should just have to drive flat out to make the jump.

Do I need to use turbo (shift key)? I'm not sure it works on the airboat?

The problem was that I got into the channel behind the wood barrier in an unorthodox way -- over the debris-pile next to the ramp instead of through the metal container. A bug won't let you make the jump if you don't take the orthodox approach.
