Gabe Newell In Prison

has anyone seen the video interview with Gabe Newell in the Alcatraz prison cell? Its post source theft but so far I can only find it on Gamespot in members only section. Anyone know anywhere to download it? Sounds interesting.

AFAIK, Alcatraz was sept 30, and the theft was public early october.
OK, the theft already took place at that time, but I doubt you'll notice this in the interview.

i was just putting it into a time-frame. apparently he talks about the delay.

The interview was on the 28 Sept IIRC. You can clearly see that something is troubling him. He even starts his speech with "Ever have one of those weeks". Can't remember where I got the video though.

If you have FTP I can upload it to you maybe :) Or find somewhere for me to put it.

Also he starts with a joke, then he says "never have one of those weeks", nothing to do with the leak. He didn't even know it was leaked until the beginning of october, when the source leaked over the web, he knew something was fishy with his computer but nothing more.

ive got it, he doesnt talk about the delay, its pretty much a big ati/dell advert. i remember it clearly, it was on sept 30th. i remember getting really excited getting ready for a huge anouncemenet, and being really let down :sniper:

no no not that one. this is one just one on one with Gabe, and an actual interview.

Developer Interview 2 |
Valve's Gabe Newell reports in from an Alcatraz prison cell with the latest on Half-Life 2's development process, delayed release, and more. (

aaah i just watched the streaming version. he talks about the delay saying basically how he hates giving release dates cos they always screw them up. and about holidays this year (2003) etc. Pretty cool but i think i may have seen it before.

you've gotta let Gamespot rip you off to see it though.
