You've heard the rumblings and rumors, but now we can officially confirm it: The Alien Anthology is coming to Blu-ray domestically on Oct. 26. The U.K. will get it one day earlier on Oct. 25 and Australia on Nov. 3.
According to Fox, the four Alien films have been "reinvigorated for an intense Blu-ray high-definition viewing experience." It will take advantage of Blu-ray technology by incorporating the MU-TH-UR Mode, an interactive feature that lets you access the special features on all six discs and provides an index of all available content. And what does that content include? About 60 hours of special features and over 12,000 images, including material from the legendary early '90s LaserDisc release, the "Legacy" release and, of course, the Quadrilogy.

Too bad only 2 out of the 4 are really worth watching aside from some scenes in the last 2. :hmph: Lot's of great stuff but I'm going to wait until the price comes down or it goes second-hand on Amazon Marketplace as it's $140. Comic-Con should be great as well: http://bluray.ign.com/articles/110/1106154p1.html *Or maybe I could get the first and 2nd film seperately with special features? Really I don't want clone Ripley or the monks in space. It's also $98 on Amazon.

Yey - we can watch a plastic bag floating in the air in HD!

The Alien boxset shall be mine!

its me or the box design looks like form a cheap tableboard game?

EDIT: in the second picture

I have this on DVD but I don't think I'll update for another few years. Wait a bit and it will be half off

I don't think my wife would be too keen on the hissing alien wrapped around a slimy egg sitting on display on our mantle.

Too bad.
For me.

Oh. How exciting. Does it come in a big GODDAMN ALIEN EGG PACKAGE?
No?
Shame.

Hey, hey, I'm equally excited about Alien and Aliens on Blu-Ray too, and I will be purchasing it. I was just adding to the release list.

I also have my own plastic bag, thankyouverymuch.

My Wife has just pre-ordered the Alien Egg version for me as an early Christmas present. I don't even have a Blu-Ray player yet. I need to see the Burke cacoon scene though, so I'll get one before I get this.

Blu-Ray players are quite cheap now. Look around on amazon and you can find some Sony players for under $150. It's really worth it too as the sound pops out and the visuals are sharp. You will notice things in that background that were previously blurry on DVD or theater releases. Personally DVDs now look pixelated to me but even then the up-scaling that the players do are phenomenal.

The clips are on youtube btw. That is in German though but the guy was saying "Kill me.....kill me....".

Nah mate, that's not the Burke scene. The Burke scene is from Aliens and the only thing to ever surface from it before this set is a single set shot:

Where Ripley gives him a grenade to blow himself up. The entire scene will be on the Blu-Ray box set.

We talked about this before and even though I can't seem to find a clip of it on the internet, I'm still not entirely convinced that I haven't seen it. There's a lot of other people out there who also claim to have seen it, though none of us have any proof, and the memories are all 15+ years old.

I frequent the AvPGalaxy boards and some of go beyond being hardcore fans. If they say it's never been released then it's probably true. Not to say I don't believe you've seen it in some form (a still or making of video) but it has never been inserted into any version of the actual movie or had the scene released into it's entirety.

May be a foreign release or like a pre-screening version like they had with Blade Runner. As for myself though, I have never seen it and would love to view it because it sounds pretty cool. I googled it and Burke is found by Ripley after rescuing Newt, cocooned with an alien in him. Ripley feeling pity, gives him a grenade and runs off. Fitting but sad end to that bastard.

Oh I'm sure it's never been "released", at least not intentionally, but it could potentially be on a bootleg or something.

Yeah it's a wonderful idea, the problem with it is within the confines of the mythology it wouldn't make sense for him to be at that stage already, which is why it was never included in any legit releases before.

There reports that predator 2 has alot of deleted scenes with a predator/king willie fight.

Yeah, it must be floating around somewhere if it's been filmed. You're right, it would be far to early for him to be at the "post hugger" stage of the cycle though I suspect it will be very satisfying to see the guy suffer even more as it was very brief in the movie. Just shows how much the later directors of the franchise didn't give a toss about screwing up the mythology.

Are these on the P2 Blu-ray or are they something as yet unreleased?

Supposedly they were shown at a advanced preview for P2, but were cut, along with snippits about what happened to dutch and stuff.

I don't know if its true to be honest with you, but thats what I heard.

But given in p1 dvd they barely touched on the footage of the original design and scenes involving predator mark 0 and Van Damme (inculding a scene on the predator ship with hunting trophy skulls, a scene no doubtfully reused for predator 2 'script wise' ), which I'd be interested in seeing it.
