They had mouths with jaws on the sides, instead of underneath. The Vortigaunts had mouths similar to ours. In addition, the Vortigaunts' heads are dominated by one really large eye, with smaller ones supporting it - the Grunts had a set of three average-sized ones.

They're probably from the same common ancestors, but to say that the Grunts are simply Vortgaunts with armour plating and muscles is being ignorant.

Back on the topic:

Any of the aliens from HL1 and expansions could still be on Earth (and probably are.) Probably not in huge numbers though. So it'd be nice to encounter maybe one or two hiding out somewheres.

i think in HL3 you should see a grunt fighting those giant tentacles, a bit one sided but it could be awesome.
