Im a big fan of the Alien films, and the Alien games aswell. Im wondering if its possible to create an Alien modification, with the Alien monsters and weapons etc, but with other names of course. Is that legal ?

No does not. Natural Selection doesnt have the Aliens from the films.

They didn't get sued by LucasArts (who're notoriously guarding of their intellectual property), despite the fact that it is essentially a free, competing product to the official Star Wars: Battlegrounds...

You cant *legally* make a mod using someone else's intellectual property without their permission. The fact that someone else did not get sued, is not grounds for saying that you are in the clear legally. You need what is called a 'license' to use another person's intellectual property, and this usually means that you have to pay something for it.

Just make your own unique looking aliens. It's just too risky to go around messing with copyrighted property like that, especially when it comes down to doing an AvP mod.
