I am 6 hours from seeing the movie. Then I'm gonna come back and post a review.

Over the next few days, anyone that sees it...post you review here. :D

The movie doesn't seem to be that true to the original concept though and seems to be way too hollywoodized and the PG-13 makes me want to puke. But it'll be interesting watching it.

Here's another one:

SPOILER ALERT I went to a free staff screening for employees of Showcase Cinemas last night, Wednesday the 11th. I was walking into the theater hoping I would walk out scared, seeing as how Predator is my absolute favorite Sci-Fi creature. I'm not big on Alien, I can't even remember seeing a movie. But I'm sure the other films in the series are better than this garbage.

Anderson is the worst possible choice for director, I mean look at what he did to Resident Evil. AVP had traces of his earlier films in it. To name a few, a 3-d grid used for transitions, ruining popular series, and horrible direction. I never though ANYONE could make the Predator look like a little BlTCH. But he did it. And I'm ashamed I saw it, even for free.

First off, I went in hating the human aspect. I was hoping just for two hours of straight hunting between the two. There were only 2 points in the film where there wasn't a human on screen. (SPOILERS)
And why did he have to make the horrible ending? A predator helping a human, and respecting them? I don't want respect, I want bloodshed, if I wanted respect I'd watch Predator 2 again.
(SPOILERS END) The only really good thing about the film is the make-up and effects on the Predators and Aliens, that was very well done. Perhaps if the story and Direction were giving the same attention, this would be a film worth watching. Bottom line, before going to the screening, I watched Street Fighter, one of the 250 worst, but a favorite of mine for it's campiness, and relation to the game, one of my favorites. And after watching AVP, I immediately wanted to go to home and watch Street Fighter again.

I knew right from the trailers that this movie would not meet expectations. And this is coming from a guy who has ONLY seen half of Aliens. This movie has made me want to rent the others in the Alien series and even the 2 from Predator.

This was the last in the line of summer blockbusters I was thinking of seeing. Having said that, it's a bit depressing now.
 
When there is a "VS" in the movie's title you'll know it sucks.

Tomorrow we will see. Where I know where you are coming from, Alien vs. Predator is an exception to "automatically" be bad. I've been waiting for a movie with that title for years.

I can't say that Hellboy was all that great.. but when I saw it I was expecting something awful, but got something pretty decent. It was pretty damn funny, and the action was pretty cool, although the ending really sucked.

Same with Freddie VS Jason. That movie sucked so much ass. There must be like a total of 15 minute of them fighting. :hmph:

As for AvS, I think I'll rent it on DVD, from what I've heard it's going to suck enormously, and having it rated PG-13 really doesn't help it.

Now...about the PG-13 rating, which I tried so hard to ignore: IT SHOWS!!! God, does it show! Most of the violence in this film is not directed towards Aliens or Predators...but HUMANS. When it's time for a chestbursting or a tongue-death, all we get is a typical cut away. Gone is the colorful profanity that was so much fun to listen to. Even the token 'ugly mutherf*cker' line gets cut off half-way through. This is exactly what we all feared: A franchise film that looks and feels as if it were made for little kids. I'm not saying an R-rating would've automatically made this good (far from it)...but it would've at least given us some fun carnage.

Oh SHIT! I've been looking forward to this for SO long, and it sounds like utter SHIT. :CURSING:

It's impossible for this movie to suck. The whole movie could be just two frames showing an alien in one and a predator in the other, and it would be good. That's why I'm seeing it tomorrow. :)

Well I'm headed out to go see it now...
I'm trying to ignore what I have heard and gonna try to enjoy it.
Hey at least if I don't like it I didn't have to pay for it(I'm on the Promotion Team for a Movie Theater Corporation).

There's a time in your life when you just know if a particular Film is going to be terrible. This is one of those times.

Whats going to be so annoying if this is a turkey .. is that it would be very hard to make this film crap .. two of the best movie franchise's and creatures around .. and if it sucks well .. anderson should never work again.

I doubt he ever will work again if it bombs financially, thats all I'm worried about, so long as it makes a lot of money, Alien 5 and Predator 3 will be made, if it doesn't make much, then he'll have the fans from both films hunting him down heh

I was shown a review yesterday by someone who'd seen it. Said it was dumbed down for 10 year olds and we can expect the usual Lucas type Merchandise. While it might help it financially, it'll also harm it, as they'll think thats the best way to do the others then.

Next we'll know it, you'll have the Aliens being bopped on the head by Ripley and little chestbusters floating around they're heads. Or the Predator doing double takes BugsBunny style, then a camp TV series like the 60's batman.

Quick Version: Go see it. Really. The aliens and Predator together made it all worth-while. The theater I was in was packed to capacity, and three times during the moive the theater erupted in applause and cheers. There are problems, but not enough to ruin the movie.

Go see it!
 
Never Listen To The Critics.

Seriously. If I'd listened to the critics, I wouldn't have gone out and seen Freddy VS Jason, Resident Evil, Jason X, or any of the other movies which got panned, but which I quite enjoyed.

Guess it's because I usually don't have any preconceptions about a movie...

oh please. The more people go to see this movie the more money FOX get, the more money FOX get the more likely they are to make bad movies in future.

It is all based on perspective, but when 90% of the critics are slamming it and user reviews are flushing it down the pan I don't see how this movie could be considered "good".
 
I thought it was pretty good...but then again im not a hardcore movie nerd like some of you..
 
I just got back from seeing it, it was awesome. Its good, people said it had no story, but they were wrong. I have no clue how they missed it. Anderson did a good job with it.

I thought it was awsome how they showed the predators hunting the Aliens thousands of years ago..
