aliens vurses predator 2...

ok, i played this game all night yesterday as an alien, and im half way through the alien campaign.

i used to have it about 1 year ago on my crap PC, and i got quite far as the alien. Then it was the best game i had when i got my new PC, so i installed it and played most of the predator campaign untill i bought some new games.

But i came close top the edge about a month ago... i was going to sell it at gametrader :O i was about to get handed the money, when the guy said "actually, this disk is scratched" and handed it back.

so for a month it sat in the corner of my room, refusing to benifit me with money or pleasure until..

a strage urge inside of me... Growing like a chestburster inside my aching chest... Then it happened... yesterday night, in an explosion of pain i fumbled through the two disks and cowered in the corner while the game was installing... i had done it!!!

so This is how it started.

but seriously, i had forgotten how much this game rocks. its not some average FPS... each race is completely different with all their moves perfected... the game is sublime, with little scripted sequences and subtle conversations.

Alien
It all starts with you falling out of a crate as a headcrab. scuttling around, you stealthily sneak to find an unconcious prey, then you strike... then a great little feature is that you actually get to bite your way out of someones chest! its so kewl!!! then another stealth mission later and youve eaten a cat and are ready to kill...

after the superb opening level, you never upgrade. thats the great thing about it... your allways exactly the same, but despite the fact your enimies get stronger, you feel in control.. you scuttle through the celings, waiting for your moment to strike.. then when you do- its an explosiopn of claws dicing and your inner teeth gouging out peoples heads. you are the hunter, and everything is your prey.. nothing can kill you!!! its so kewl!!!

Predator
With this you have so many trinkets it would make inspector gadget jelous. Net gun, disc launcher, power claw, spear gun, 3 different viewing modes... You dont need to climb up walls to have fun, you just run head first at your prey and decimate it. Nothing stands between you and your goal.

Marine
This is for the veterans... because its f*cking scary. i never got past the first level.. the use of dark level designs is amazing, plus the motion sensor is so freaky. unlike the other two races, your scared for your life.. you know there are things out there that want to kill you, and they probally will...

The arcade game was fun. I was playing it again recently on an emulator and it brought back a lot of memories and felt just like it used to, only without stupid screaming children and chavs wandering about being a waste on humanity.

I dunno why but even on an emulator the arcade versions of games still kick ass. I don't know what it is about them, their not technologically advanced by today's standards yet they still have that whole "feeling" about them.

It's an arcade emulator, there's a few around and the decent ones are mostly hard coded to play specific games (like the arcade machines themselves) Just google for them, try this to start with http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&safe=off&q=arcade+emulators

Another strange thing about them are most run at very low resolutions, yet STILL end up looking better than most other games like them.

right at the end you find out the main bad guy, who you see many demo clips of and his mental problems, is actually a synthetic robot. after killing his cronies and rescuing your queen, you see him limbless and bleeding that white goo... plastered to the wall of the aliens private lair. he is bicklering and mumbeling with terror.. serves him f*cking right for messing with me

I played this a few years ago, it was pitch black (about 10pm till 6am, lights off), I was home alone (apart from my mate that was sat next to me watching) ...

Anyway, I completed it as Marine and Alien - and it scared the hell out of both of us.

But that's what makes it a great game.

I finished it on hard with all three races.

I loved it(I don't got it, but a friend of mine do). Lol, all the n00bs are always marins, lust beacouse they can shoot. But those really suck.

AvP 2 is a pile of crap compared to the previous AvP. The Marines Pulse Rifle is rubbish, and the smart gun, they don't even sound correct. The Alien is way way way to slow and the Predator, while very fun to play is just to powerfull. Not a scratch on the first.

I really like AvP 2. AvP was fun but for some reason i never got into it...maybe i was too young, but i really enjoy Avp2.

Dux.. if its too easy for you do it on extreme mode.

i love everyhting about the missions.. the way each level is individually crafted. Like in halflife, those of you who have used hammer editor, will know it feels like it could just be an average mod made on the editor. Theres no complex sequences... only subltle hints. dont get me wrong... halflife is sublime, but in AVP2 there is allways something happening... contantly scripted sequences keep you on your toes, and there are little playable experiences like when you burst out of someone as a chestbutster.

AVP2 is short but packed full of features, plus the multiplayer is great. i love it!

I loved AvP 2 with a passion, as it was basically three nice (although short) games in one. My favorite was the Alien campaign, followed by Marine, and finally Predator. Playing as an Alien was kick ass, especially with all the neat wall climbing. This game definitely proves monolith's high status as an FPS creator.

OT: Who's going to see AvP in the movie theatres this August? I know I sure as hell am!

Damn I loved AVP2. Playing as every race is extremly enjoyable. What I rea;;y enjoyed was the very begining as an alien. You're so freaking tiny and can climb on any walls, jump extreme distances, etc. You can sneak all over the place, etc.
