i want to build my friend a computer. but if i do it that way he would have to pay a bulk price, and he just can't do that right now. but he CAN afford to make monthly payments on one.

so the only place ive found that builds custom PCs and lets you make monthly payments is alienware, but alienware is a bit expensive, and im considering it a last resort.

im wondering if anyone knows of any other place that is like this, but with better prices? i looked at falcon northwest and ibuypower which were listed in the computer hardware site sticky, but after looking through their sites I couldn't find any evidence that they let you make monthly payments.

alienware cant be the only one right?

Frankly.. I think retail is way too overpriced and they never tell you exactly what is inside. Have you thought about taking out a loan? Then you would still have your fancy build-it-yourself computer and have monthley payment plans.

or if hes willing to wait, do what my friend did, just buy what he can then put it together when its all the pieces are there

Why don't you be a friend and put in together for him, give it to him, then let him pay YOU every month.

Unless your in a tight spot financially at the moment.

Monthly payments == greater cost
Unless you want something high end immediately, just make one yourself and/or save up some money

Well that's why I said he build it for him now, then his friend pays him off under-the-table. That way there's no large interest charges and such.

hmmm, the idea about me paying for the parts, and him paying me monthly sounds pretty good, never thought of that before. the loan sounds good too, duh i should have thought of that! but i forgot i have to ask him what his credit is like first. ill look into these ideas. thanks

Better make sure he is a real good mate, don't want him running off with all your money :p

just get a small loan and pay it all at once that way you can make payments to the bank and you can pick whatever system you want ...plus it's good for building a good credit line
