All In Wonder or plain Radeon 9800 Pro?

I'm deciding on which video card to buy for Half-Life 2, and to be honest, its a toss up. Right now Comp USA is offering a $50 mail-in rebate for the All In Wonder Radeon 9800 Pro, which would place it at the same retail price as a regular 9800 Pro. What I want to know is if all those extra multimedia bells and whistles on the All In Wonder affect 3D performance in any way. I don't want to get this card thinking it'll run like a regular 9800 Pro and have it turn out to work like a 9700 Pro. Any and all info would be appreciated.

They really shouldn't affect the 3d performance. Actually, the way they're made it is basically like taking the radeon 9800 and an ati tv tuner and smackin them together. Sounds like a good deal to me. Plus, I've had pretty good results with my ATI Tv Tuner and it's a value edition.

P.S. I'm sure someone will mention it eventually since they are all anal forum rats. . . this is the wrong forum :cheese:

it all depends on the software. The 9800pro's are exactly the same but you probably get games and software with the all in wonder.

So there's no difference hardware-wise, is that what you're saying?

There should be no difference in 3D performance, however it wont be exactly the same as a regular 9800 pro, for example it may draw more power, require more cooling etc.

It is a good buy, if you use the Tv tuner.

Grab the all in wonder. It might drag out 10 watts extra power at the most, big deal. The performance will not take a hit in even the slightest way unless you are watching TV while playing HL2 (by the way, this is a valid option, you CAN do it!)

Its an amazing deal, take it!

Basically you can use you PC like a Tv

300 watt. More recommended if you have a lot of devices such as several hard drives and/or CD/DVD drives. I currently only use one DVD-ROM and a single HD, so I'm confident that my 300w will handle it without any problems.

yeah, im going to be getting the all-in-wonder as well. the only downside is that you have to use the included adapter to plug in any monitors that use the blue plug. newer digital monitors have a differnet connection so you have room to upgrade though. sad part is that unless they make a splitter of some kind the all-in-wonder wont support multi-monitors. who uses that anyway? unfortunetly one of my two 20'' monitors will have to sit this next video card out

Get a 400 watt + one, its only about $7-12 more and it'll just be one less thing to worry about. I have 3 hd's and some large case fans, and I got a 400 watt ps simply for peace of mind.

If you like to edit videos/record stuff of TV alot... Get the AIW, I own it and have tested it/looked the the specs: and it is the same as the 9800 PRO Graphic wise.

I wouldn't spend the extra money on the AIW 9800 PRO if your not going to record T.V. or edit or make videos.

If Compusa sucks, then why did you buy it there? Besides, for the same price, you get a whole lot of free software which is really good. Read any review on the All in Wonder, and you'll see why.

The all-in-wonder cards are ViVo cards, Not just tv tuners. You have video input and output possibilities on the card as well as video editing software bundled

the ati tv tuners, have lots of driver problems, and compability issues, with windows 98, and windows xp with an intel card.
the only computer i got an ati tv tuner to run smoothly on, is an AMD system, so i hope you have better luck with that tv tuner!
