The Off-Topic forum, the place to discuss absolutely anything. I hope the following question is not considered spam: Just exactly what does a Warning Level of 8 mean?

It means that if you get two more points, you're banned.
Duh.

It means that you are 2 points, or 1 one spam warning away from a ban.

Does this constitute a spam thread?

I'd consider this a deliberate attack thread. That's 10 whole points of permaban goodness, you know!

Can I get a warning level 9 to see what psychological effects it gives me?

You'd consider anything a deliberate attack if it meant you could get your hands on a permban.

I'd trade anything for a minute alone with that sweet, sweet permaban.

It makes you look like a bahd boi and all the forum ladies swarm round you, "your just so baaaaad, thats why i like you" they say as they glide their hand over your muscular chest.

Why is Goethe's warning gone now? And Ikerous?

Does that mean they are banned?

Users can no longer see Warning Levels, only Moderators and above.

Why not? Then everyone can see who are the forum trolls, spammers and idiots.

Why is that? I liked seeing warning levels. If anyone brags about their wanring level, just dubble theirs.

Because a number of people are just wearing them as some kind of idiotic status symbol now, and that's entirely what they're not intended for. It also gives us that whole Illuminati-esque feeling, too :p

bragging, complaining and otherwise treating them like a bit of fun was getting them removed not doubled.

eh, how do we know if we have a warning level though? Do you get a PM or something?

Yup, it explains everything.

Thanks a lot mod. I was getting tired of having people like vegeta make fun of me because of my Warnings Level ;)

A warning on 8? Hmm... someone clearly has been behaving inappropiately :O

Can you point out one post where I made fun of the fact that you had a warning level?

Kthx

if you see some threads make by goethe you will understand why he hav that warning level

We cant see other ppl's warnings anymore!?!
Thats the whole reason i have one :(

Warning levels are always destined to end up being invisible to the public. Although I have to admit the idea of allowing staff to view them directly beneath a user's post details had never really occured to me- it would be a lot more helpful then having to check an admin forum every ten minutes.

Woo for twisted badges of honour! Like custom titles but weirder...

aye true RJMC

one of his masterpieces : http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=67466

Perhaps instead of displaying the level warning they have, maybe we could have like a box next to their name, white for good member, red filled in for a warning level present, so we know who to beware of, and who are friendly folk. I think the warning things were good, but to get around the status symbol make it subtle but still known. I just feel that it was useful to normal members as well as mods.

Not really, from past experience having normal forumites fully aware of idiots, reformed idiots or even just potential idiots greatly increased the chances of a flame war, usually initiated by a judgemental regular. Take people by their actions and not their label, as some other odd forum guy probably said before me.

warning levels are like people vandalising, but online. Leave it for the rebelious

Yeah it was fun trying to figure out wtf they did to earn those warnings for a while :) Nice coloring too.

If I had a warning level, would I be able to see it like I can others?

EDIT: Oh, nevermind. reading a few posts up I see we can't see other peoples warning levels anymore.

You should be able to see your own, but not others.
