All these PS3 Videos

xbox 360's lowest supported res is 720, and can go up to 1080, whilst ps3's standard is set at 1080i.

My thoughts on the killzone video:

While it isnt "really" real time, the graphics being produced are real time, the action and ai is scripted. If it was pre rendered, you wouldnt see the little bugs that showed up like a npc popping, and the ground textures looks streched, these things wouldve been perfected, not to mention a SCEE teamster saying "Most of the footage was in game" (im guessing the plane crash sequence at the end was pre rendered"

But you have to remember the specs release on the ps3....cell with 30 something gigs bandwidth to the RSX...the GPU is equal to two NVidia 6800 ultras......

...thats mind blowingly fast and powerful

Bling puts it better then I can, everyone listen to him..

not to mention the developers of killzone have been said to have the ps3 dev kits since killzone 1 released idk how many months ago.........and the unreal 3 engine demo shown at sonys conf. was "up and running on the ps3 hardware in 2 months"

idk what the big deal is, techniqually, xbox 360's "gears of war" running on the Unreal 3 eninge is far greater detailed then killzone 2's footage, and no one questions if thats real time or not.....even after the fact ps3 can push a full 1 TFLOP over the 360, and ps3 has a more powerful gpu. I think its the fact that the killzone video was scripted and a lot of things blow up leads people to believe it cant be an actually in game clip of a level, and i might agree....thats a lot of stuff going on at once. But I firmly believe those graphics are the same or might even get better as time goes on, running in real time.

Close... but you're still a bit off. As they said in the press conference, the PS3's standard resolution isn't even supported by the consumer HDTVs currently on the market. It's 1080p... not 1080i. That means every PS3 game has to be able to comfortably render twice as many pixels as the Xbox 360 games that actually support 1080i. They did this so that when the newer HDTVs that support 1080p become standard the PS3 will still be able to put out as much detail as they can handle. It's not really all that important right now but it does at least guarantee that every game will support 1080i... whereas the Xbox 360 only guarantees 720p... though, some people prefer that resolution anyway. 1080i shows more details than 720p but interlacing isn't quite as good as progressive scan in really fast-paced games.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the PS3 is also supposed to be able to run two displays at 1080p simultaneously with its two HDMI connectors. It would allow you to play a game on two screens... or, IIRC from the conference, you could do two different things at the same time (I forgot what their examples were... watch the video if you want to know).

Or better yet, is it possible to use a LCD and/or CRT screen?

Yes Sony is full of shit. The sad thing is there are people naive enough to think it's real in-game footage.

How do you know its not?

We don't actually know, but the main purpose of this game is to make money, as it is with most other games. If they can convince people that the game looks 10 times better than it actually is, it would increase sales by a fair bit, and would show up the opposition too.

In my opinion, this footage is either totally rendered, or a very touched up version of the real game.

It's been confirmed that the Killzone video is prerendered.

Beyond3D forums.

OMG his friend works there, well my dad works at valve and they are gone cancel HL³ to make super mario cart 44545 and my mum works at EA and they are starting a candy shop because they got bored from the game making industry.

As I am  . I would be an Xbox360 fanboy if there was some way of using my PC mouse and keyboard for those games

I was one of those people, then I observed the Killzone vid more closely after other peoples observations ;(

I'm still observing the Vision Gran Turismo vid, and blatantly confused whether or not its real or pre-rendered

Exactly, let's wat untill ppl have actually played these titles. They may look amazing *cough* pre-rendered *cough* but may also play like crap when finished.

Take the new Killzone vid, if this really really in game footage it won't matter one bit if the game plays like the original - which was average at best.

You can't polish a turd. 'Or can you'?, the Sony marketing team wonder :)

Remember all the complete crap Sony talked about when releasing the PS2. Bow down to the all mighty Emotion Engine lol. It turned out to be an excellent console, but the e3 that introduced it was full of rubbish (a little like this one)

The PS3 is bound to be an amazing console, but all that we're seeing right now is marketing hype designed to wow the average gamer with pretty visuals. Soon we'll get some actual substance, and get to see how good the machine really is.
