Im sure some of you have noticed this but the omaha beach level in medal of honour: allied assault is exactly the same as the start of saving private ryan. I was watching it today and i thought maybe its just really similar. But on the bit where they get through th barbed wire on the beach and they have to take out that guy on the gun is exactly the same. Tom Hanks in the film sends those two men out and they die, just like in the game, and then he tells the third guy to 'stick to the impact craters' just like on the game.
How come Ea didnt have to buy the film rights cos its obvious where they stole tht part from?

OMG!!

how could you??

they used the same advisor. And ripping off= no paying off.

Maybe, just maybe it's because.......that's what really happened on that beach on that day.

Just a thought.

Yeah I guess that's true. I wonder if there will ever be a better fps than Allied Assault. Maybe if Valve makes a sequel to Half-Lfe.

Hey, I hope you have a great 2002!

Perhaps they were alike because it's based on a true historical account? Omaha Beach was extensively researched and accurately recreated for both Allied Assault and Saving Private Ryan. When the men got to the sea wall, the only real cover available on the beach (this is the barbed wire that you speak of), they were pinned down by the machineguns firing from the bunkers and trenches on the bluffs above them. Sticking to the impact craters is common sense. I've spoken with a man who was in the second wave of men assaulting Omaha Beach (his wave took over 70% casualties, and the first wave took well over 95%) and he told me that Saving Private Ryan (and apparently Allied Assault as well) was a frighteningly real representation of what he witnessed and participated in on Omaha Beach.

Don't make ignorant posts, please; it gets my temper going.

....and theres the fact that much of the Allied Assault audio was liscensed from the studio that did the movie. If you pay attention as they run up the beach many of the lines that the men say are in fact the exact ones from the movie.

You do know in the credits it says Created by: Steven Spielberg... Just wanted to let you know...

thats what made me think they ripped off the movie, not a few little similarities.
