Alyx + Gordon = Messiah?

This theory was born of a post from 2008, 01:20 AM by Avoidist after thinking about Alyx's evolving role in the game and newfound importance.

"The G-Man's value of Alyx could be intimately linked with the fact that the Vortigaunts put her in such high regard: "If we lose her, we lose all". Sounds like she certainly has some yet unseen destiny that everyone needs her for."

Numerous things lead me to believe that a romantic relationship is slowly developing between gordon and alyx. And that there could be an almost prophetic meaning behind this. Certainly at times throughout the game, Alyx seems flustered and almost embarassed at expressing care and worry for Gordon. A large portion of the combine's lock on our planet revolves around (and this is one of the more instinctually replusing locks they have on us) them denying us our ability to reproduce. This lock on our species is lost when the suppression field is taken down, as if Dr. Kleienr suggesting everybody get it on wasn't enough, Alyx's father straight out says Gordon and alyx should start hooking up. Any warm blooded male could feel that Alyx wasn't just a "sex object" in this game, valve is too good for that. Nor was she a big-boobied eye candy for our japanese counterparts (the combine does not submit her to any tentacle monsters... Barnacle porn anyone?), she's an ass kicking fighter, a partner , if you will.

Compare that with how the vortigaunts regard her, without any prior knowledge from the GMAN (clearly they are not associated or in cahoots since GMAN has to wait for them to be distracted when she's being healed in the mine, he also speaks of them with...discontent in his voice and face.). "If we lose her we lose all", he doesn't mean the resistance since its doing well since the citadel's fall, and Gordon is the one who gets most the real work done. Also, he LINKS Gordon's "vortessence" with Alyx , which is perhaps in human terms the Soul. If that doesn't say hint hint wink wink, i don't know what does.

So they clearly have an irreplaceable link, a cosmic link, and the're going to take advantage of their newfound , and very HUMAN abilities and instincts at the prodding of everyone including Eli who wants a grandson, the combine whose suppression field has fallen, the vortigaunts who linked the two together (just remembered when she gets in the elevator... how she beckons gordon to stand next to her), and maybe... even the GMAN??? I'll put money theres a prophet / savior half life baby in the future. I'm not done, but i'll stop here for now in case i'm seeming TOO insane.
 
You're saying that in Episode Three, Valve will include a feature allowing us to have sex with a keyboard and mouse, and in Half-Life 3, we get to play their son...??

thanks for the credit zombie turtle. And for clarification to the jokesters, no there will not be (unfortunately) a sex feature. I'd double click her butt all day n night... or maybe a small portion of the evening before dinner but after work.


In any case, what I meant was that in between episode 2 and 3, or 3 and Half life 3, or some pause in the action, Alyx and Gordon will do what comes natural (human) to us and all the planets seem to be in alignment for it to happen. If we start ep 3 or HL3 and theres a bouncing baby barnacle,er ... gordon, don't be surprised.

Which reminds me... the combine have been plundering our planets resources...Its not H20 or diamonds or oil or plutonium... but our children, "Children are our greatest natural resource". I forget which president said that and google is not cooperating.
 
Well I think Gordon himself is supposed to be Christ-like. Hell if he grew a full beard he'd even look like him. Even Revelations has themes incredibly similar to HL2 i.e. The return of the Messiah against the forces of evil, Only those with the mark of the beast will prosper under a new world government(Combine symbol).
 
Yes, Gordon is a lot like Jesus.

Legendary, partially blaimed for certain mishaps, then dissapears (christ dies) Gordon returns (christ risen/2nd coming)

Gman controlling Gordon (God using Jesus).

Gordon is like Jesus if Jesus were super awesome. And instead of healing the infected, he bashes them with a crowbar.

As for the theory, I doubt there would a "messiah" out of Gordon and Alyx having a kid. Perhaps another protagonist and yet another pawn for the Gman.

As for the suggested sex scene (only in Mass Effect not in HL) doubt it, but there might perhaps be a "fill-in-the-blanks" thang. After all, HL has more than its share of fill in the blanks, use your imagination, subtle story telling.

For instance lets say at the end of Ep3, after Borealis is distroyed. Gordon, Alyx and Judith go back to White Forest, then a Vortigaunt shows Gordon to his room. 15 minutes later, Alyx comes knocking on his dorm and asks if she can come in and talk to Gordon.

Obviously Gordon lets her in, and Alyx procedes to talk to Gordon about certain events like the death of her father, Gman a little bit and so on. Also Alyx talks says she's also thought about what her father said about "helping revive the human race" and she smiles at Gordon and the screen then goes black, procede to credits. HL3 is 2 decades after the events of Ep3, we could possibly play as his son in it.
 
Well, i don't mean that it will be the judeo-christian messiah, i mean that ... oh nevermind. This thread ran away and got itself knocked up while it was left without any adult supervision.

i dontsee whats wrong with his theory, it makes sense because after ep3 tehres going to be another one and you never know whats going to happen in ep3 or in between ep3 or the next half life

It's just ridiculous. It's something you expect from a cheesy film, or Final Fantasy.
 
i agree with you there druckles, but it was intresting reading peoples thoughts about it. i really dont see them doing it, i can see them getting really close but not having a child.
 
They need to because the human race is pretty dry right now, the youngest age being early or mid 20's. Especially if The Combine ever return.

Dr. Kliener had a whole speech on it, and Eli spoke about it subtly.
 
The Half-Life series has always seemed to be more "high brow" than usual game response of LOLSEX.

Why would you want to play Gordon's son when you can play as Gordon. The best video game protagonist ever.
 
Well lets agree on one thing, we are clearly seeing the creators of the game leading gordon and alyx to "fall in love".

No, Gordon and Alyx don't hook up just yet. Valve will only hint at things to come.
 
yeah, its hard to believe it thought because you cant hear gordon talk, but im sure valve will come up with something.
 
The general theme of the theory makes sense. There is undoubtedly sexual tension between Alex & Gordon which builds throughout the series and several references are made to them having children so I think it's probable.

I like the idea of the HL story continuing with the next generation Freeman. Maybe father/son fighting side by side in a Co-op mode...

The unity of Gordon and Alyx would kill the game series, as it did with every TV series ever made that resulted in that. This is what keeps the game going... mystery, hope...teamwork and friendship.
 
Well Alyx obviously wants Gordon and assuming Gordon is hetero he probably wants Alyx. I doubt Alyx is going anywhere but I'm not sure the end of Ep3 is going to result in down time for the two of them.
 
I wonder post-ep3 that leads to HL3 is going to be, and especially if Gordon isn't in stasis and time would affect Gordon. Say 20-30 years after Ep3, HL3 takes place.

Although I doubt Gordon would have 20 years so freely like that and it's likely he'll be back in stasis but I'm also asuming Alyx will be joining him and Adrian because Alyx is now a pawn for the Gman (was always intended to be, Gman says).
 
Yeah, my guess would be stasis at the end of Episode Three. Or death... but preferably stasis...
