Alyx to be star of hl3?

could someone please confirm if this is true as i was looking on the gamer.tv website (UK tv show) and a video popped up of up and coming third installments of games and it said that valve have confirmed it

I'm 99% sure HL3 will be staring Gordon, we've come too far to drop him or demote him to a lesser role.

17:23 Well perhaps not quite, given that Valve's second magnum opus Half-Life 2 hasn't even got an official release date yet, though we're fervently hoping it's going to be sometime this year.

However, according to reports circulating widely on the 'Net, Valve's Gabe Newell has already confirmed the existence of Half-Life 3 and revealed the first details on the title in an interview with Swedish games journalists - who have gone and well and truly let the Half-Life 3 cat out of the bag.

During a recent briefing at Valve's Seattle HQ, Newell is said to have revealed that the company is already in the planning phase for Half-Life 3 and is considering making Alyx Vance - NPC and Gordon Freeman's female sidekick in Half-Life 2 - a playable character.

Newell is also alleged to have promised even more alien-based revelations for the third instalment of the all-conquering FPS.

Perhaps predictably our enquiries to Valve were met with a bluff, "No comment". But it doesn't exactly take gaming rocket science to predict that a third instalment in the shooter series would appear somewhere down the line.

To learn that it might feature a character we've only seen in a couple of screenshots is a pleasant though not exactly compelling bonus. Further alien antics? Quelle surprise...

Like I said, some Swedish peeps who didn't understand what VALVe was saying. VALVe said something to the effect of what they're working on next is a game with Alyx. These guys just didnt understand, and propigated this whole confusing mess.

This whole thing is out of context. Yes, VALVe is making HL3. And Yes, Alyx will be a playable character,. but IN HER OWN HL2 EXPANSION.. NOT IN HL3.

In the HL games you are Gordon Freeman. You never, ever leave Gordons perspective. This is the Half-Life way.

I hope Alyx doesn't talk in the expansion, would sorta break the tradition ya know? Barney talked but in the expansion he didn't. and Adrian didn't talk at all either.

plus it would be a little weird for Alyx to respond to somone who is all the way across the room because you are taking a look around.

I hope VALVe cuts off development of her expansion. It sounds too me like a shit idea. It would indeed break tradition of VALVe's games, true you were once Barney and Adrian, those were good. I just don't want to play as Alyx.

It would be weird, but Barney stopped talking in Blue Shift and i wouldn't want to play as Alyx in a sequel.

Anyone played Golden Sun 1 and 2? The main character in the first one is a mute, in true RPG tradition, one of his enemies talks a lot.

In Golden Sun 2 you play as aforementioned enemy who is now mute, while your previous character won't shut up.
