I'm looking for a sub £70 motherboard that will work with the higher end power sapping Phenom II quad chips.

I was looking at a cheap MSI 770-C45 which is great for the athlon II x 4 630 i have at the moment but is sketchy on wether it will work with the power hungry higher end Phenom II chips when i finally upgrade.

Any ideas?

That is the exact board i would go for if i were looking for something around that budget. However i am also not sure that board is certified to cope with the current 140W phenom II's.

There has been plenty of success with the X3 Phenoms. Not sure about use with the X4's though.

What about this 770 board:

Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P AMD 770

Seem to be good success overclocking a X4 phenom II. So seems to be headroom power consumption wise:

We may have a winner then, £68 on scan.co.uk is on budget. Even if the MSI 770-C45 is £20 cheaper i'll only end up having to buy another board when i upgrade to anything with more kick.

EDIT: Found it for £60 at overclockers, i don't know if i want to roll the dice knowing their customer service.
