The thumb should be bigger and the palm of the hand smaller.
...Keep in mind that youre thumb can touch youre pinky !!

I perfer to draw in black and white, i dont like coloring, and i usually draw in pen, but this was a homeowrk assignment, so i decided to use pencil so i can erase my mistakes.

Aside from the anatomy oddities, if it's a severed hand it's not going to look so clean, and it looks a bit more glovelike than a severed hand should.

Google isn't so good for artistic references. Image reference sites or artist showoff sites - Devart, for instance - are much better than google image search.

Work with shapes and refine from there.

A hand is basically a square, with a thumb line of squares off to one side, and 4 square line-groups protruding from the other side.

Look at your hand, see the shapes, and see what's there.

It's better than what I can do. You probably have a bit of an innate talent if you can do that without any training or anything.

Down a bottle of a scotch and get out the hacksaw. The things you do for art.

The cut off part looks really wierd, why is there a sharp corner at the top, and what is the single bone sticking out of it? If you cut off a hand it would probably seperate above or below the carpals (I think those are the eight bones in your wrist) from either the two bones in your forarm, or your 5 bones going through your palm.
