Wow, that's some impressive stuff. Good technique. His solo does seem a little like Jeff Queen's, with all the stick tricks and all. The stick from one hand to another thing was really cool too.

Not sure who it is, looks like he's doing it for a club or something, marching band? Dunno. It's not actually a big gig solo or anything, just a guy with some sticks and a drum.

How do you do a drum roll without smashing your hands about? He just seems to touch the skin of the drum and it hits it about a quadrillion times :/

But it is a good skills video, wonder how long he had to practice that routine for?

You place the stick about an inch above the head, and "press" or "dig" into the head with a little force, emphasising more control on the fulcrum, you will then be able to make the stick rebound naturally a few times before it dies out. So repeating the steps with both hands would give the illusion of rapid movement. More of a buzz roll.

He's pretty good. I'm in a community drumline and our first chair snare player is just as good as this dude. Maybe one day I'll be as good as him...
