Now im thinkin of buying this CPU, but im not sure if its worth the money for that upgrade??
My specs as of right now:

amd Athlon 1700+
Radeon 9600 Pro 256 mb, 128-bit
512mb, 3200 Ram DDR 400
180 GB Harddrive
40 GB Harddrive
DvD combo drive
ASROCK K7S8X SiS 746FX Motherboard

Will it really make a huge difference if I buy this new CPU?? I have the money and It is only like 120 bucks... on ebay any ideas???

old cpu=1700+ 1.47GHZ 266 FSB, new cpu= 3000+ 2.16GHZ 400 FSB
the new one should be able to go 200x12=2.4GHZ or higher!! w no problem
A pretty big jump of FSB and raw cpu speed, Also dont forget double the cache size!!!. It all Looks good to me
But dont forget about the video card , a 128bit 9600 aint gonna cut it.

Well you're videocard is kinda weak, but that processor should work. In fact I'm running one myself and have no complaints.

will that CPU fan work..???? in my last post ???

for the new barton athlon 3000+ oh ..and how come i cant change my AGP to 4x , Because I get really low settings on aquamark and I need it to run faster??
and will I be able to run HL2 on medium setting with the BARTON, past 30 FPS???

I get 86 FPS on UT 2004 on high settings, but thast with my ols CPU

Honestely we cant tell you what you will get in HL2 because the benchmark and the game arent out. Im pretty sure that you could get 30 frames. And I think the reason that you cant enable 8x AGP is because your motherboard doesnt support it. And another word, dont be really frugal on your heatsink, because thats the only thing that keeps your CPU from frying. And if your going to get a heatsink, you need to get thermal paste, I HIGHLY suggest Arctic Silver 5, its 7 bux for a 3gram tube but its really worth it.

I got the thermal paste on a long time ago and still never used it.....

Im not going to over clock the CPU or anything of that nature, so I was wondering if that CPU fan will do for abour 4 months or so I will buy a new one eventually, but dont have the extra cash...should I just use that one fan I have for now ?? or can you give me a good one to buy at a cheap price.

The CPU fan I showed in one of my earlier posts I all ready have, so I dont want to buy a new one for about 4 months..

I have about 145 bucks to work with and I dont want to buy a new CPU fan , when Its not worth it, so post a CPU fan that is worth the money (not one that is just cheap)

My CPU will cost from 110 to 145 depending on what I decide to do ??

SO actually I have 35 to ummm...well 0 dollars

oh and when I enable 4X AGP ..and then my computer restarts...i go back into the setting and it just switches itself back to 0 .. I read somewhere were it says it will not changed correctly when it is unstable ?? how do i fix this ?

I have the same CPU right now im getting a AMD 2800+ 2.08 GHZ Thats the best cpu that will run on my motherbored.
You better check what kink of CPU's you're motherbored holds. It would suck if you baught one and it dosnet work.

well look at my firsty post and decide if my Mobo can handle it,..... Im not sure ..all i know is the 333 FSB can run on my mobo and thats the CPU im getting ..other than that im not sure look at my mobo ^

Go to ASROCK's site, and look up your mobo, and check for drivers or crap like that...

um.. I went to there website and couldnt find i single thing im sooo confused !?!?

my mobo model is in my first post ! so yeah.... no clue

Should I put my AGP to 8x ????

Save up for the AMD Orville 4000+, you'll need a Mac motherboard--but the speed increases, plus the dirt cheap price will make it a hot commodity when its released on 9/30.

mac motherboard .. no thank you sir !?!?!?!

i would rather eat my own poop (twice)

I just install my new mobo with 3000+ temps are kinda jumpy, I need to let the compound settle in, but I am getting from 43-46, not too much higher than my 2600+ and the 3000+ is at its 2166mhz setting...So its all good so far, just a few problems here and there with the mobo ;P

I've found mine runs pretty darned hot, but haven't had any problems at all.

The Thermalright SP-97 is a great heatsink you might want to consider.

My Barton is running at 2.5 gig and idles at around 35-40c. It hits about 40-45c under full load (this is in the summer :) )

For most of the year it never gets hotter than 38c (it's got a nice quiet 92mm fan on it) This works cooler than my mates water cooling XD (much to his displeasure)

do you have the latest catalyst drivers for your video card?

if it's just the drivers from the cd it will do this, but download the newest ones and it shouldn't.

my computer used to do the same thing but once I installed the newest catalyst drivers then everything worked fine and it stayed at 8x.
