I want you guys to be serious, I know we all sort of want to joke around with our prejudices but I'd like to get a serious conversation. Its hard to acknowledge these things, so pick something you feel comfortable with.

What are your prejudices? If possible, give a reason why you feel the way you do.

Mine is smelly people. I really just cant take them seriously, they lose all credibility with me. Seriously, it actually makes me mad. I can acknowledge that theres probably underlying reasons or whatever.. but, yeah.

Abusers of welfare. There is some in my family (not my family but extended family members receive foodstamps and abuse it.)

Everybody I've personally ever known that's on food stamps has deserved to have stopped receiving them. I hate those who are on them and abuse them.

I feel the same way about smelly people...its kind of offensive to walk around stinking up entire rooms wherever you go :frown: . Not only that but wouldnt it be really unhealthy? I honestly feel like im going to get some disease if I breathe in the air around them :x

I just try to avoid them, but it still gets on my nerves.

People who have way too much confidence bug me...

I do probably hold an unfair opinion on the "trendy" sort of people (I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about). In my experience, people that are always after the designer clothes are trying to fit into a group everyone considers elite and "cool". They've always been the most shallow, hollow, empty sort of people and haven't ever treated me with respect/tolerance/whatever. I really can't stand them. If I see someone dressed in a "trendy" sort of way, even a total stranger, I start to dislike them right away, and I'm sure painting everyone like that with the same brush like is quite unfair. I generally try not to let prejudice get in my way, but getting rid of it completely is quite difficult, if not impossible.

Couldnt agree more with that one.
I always felt shoved to one side by the 'trendy' type people, and thus I harbour a resentment for them.

I guess another is against people who never deviate from their initial or aquired outlook on something... you need to be willing to adapt in real life, and people who are stubborn tend to annoy me.

People who mess around at the soup machine.

They drop their money. They can't decide what they want. They let their friend order something too. NO! You will not do that! You will queue orderly and without concern, delay! You will know what you want before you queue! I wish I could slap them round the back of the head so hard. All I want is my damned liquid lunch.

1. Arrogant people. Confidence is fine but a little humility goes a long way. The same goes for condescending people.
2. Racist/sexist/homophobic people. I just can't fathom how people can genuinely be so thick-headed as to not recognise another that human being's differences do not negate their worth.
3. People who're too politically correct. Political correctness and sensitivity is most certainly a Good Thing. A very good thing. But some people take it just that little bit too far, get sanctimonious and tetchy.
4. Self-seeking attention whores. Seriously, get over yourselves.
5. Machismo pugnacious "blokes". What're you trying to prove?
6. The Daily Mail.

University has made me aware of my prejudices against certain types of people (that is to say scallies, trendy people). Not that I harboured any particularly malicious prejudices to them, but rather that I made snap judgements far too easily. Then I got proven wrong, came to the conclusion that I'm a bit of a tw*t, and I think I'm all the better for it :)

welfare abusers:in italy, welfare is higher than miniuimwage, but yet those damn gypies keep begging. i saw a well dressed father teaching his dirty like gilr how to beg. everything on him was 200+

hippies: they dont work and think that their opinion matters, get a job and see how the world works, and stop living off ur trustfunds.

Stupid people, especially those who are generally "slow minded".

They just annoy me, I hate talking to them and the bad thing is, the amount of stupid people around is amazing.

I'd much rather be sitting there talking to a smart person, "quick minded" person.

- Wow, saying minded feels awkward -

Also, another which which will probably cause a few people to dislike me is, some black people.

At my old school [Graduated last year] the general attitude of the 'blacks' was that they were above everyone else etc. If someone used a derogatory term, they would lash out with racist comments etc, but if a derogatory term was used for a white person, nothing happened [this commonly happened while playing football].

And another thing I dislike is those who type lIkE tHiS. They will burn in hell.

I do have an elitist problem though.

I am prejudiced against people who think they are better than you or everyone else.

I also hate people who have a 'clique' personality. Who try to keep an exclusive social group and purposefully exclude others just to maintain the clique atmosphere.

Clique's PISS ME OFF, plain and simple.

EDIT: I am predjudiced against G-men too. I can tolerate an X-man, but definately not a G-man.

I hate Big-Headed people (the people who think they are better than everyone else and show off :flame:

i dont like traffic wardens

i hate the people behind the counter if they refuse you to buy something, now that jus p's me off, they want to feel in power, even tho im the right age to buy it. and another thing , i hate people who looks down on other people.

i also dislike the smug, arrogant and ignorant people, does my head in! :x

When someone types in all caps I cant help but think that its a 12 year old boy that is grounded.

I dont think I have any other prejudices anymore, at least not councius ones. Ive had before but they have all been proved wrong.

Yeah, good point. People who're very eager to prove their own intelligence are really really bloody annoying.
Yes, people in shops who're tossers. Independent music shop attendants are very good at ttying to belittle the customer. Bastards. Also, shop attendants who do the following:
el Chi (in a DIY shop): "Sorry, do you have a screwdriver?"
Shop-keeper: "Oooh, I don't know. Heh heh heh."
el Chi: "Look you stupid c*nt, do you have it or not?"

Oh and I would like to add to my previous list of people I hate:
7. Anyone who uses the word "chav". ARGH!!!
8. Anyone who uses 1337 speak. Speak properly, you prick - you're impressing no-one.

LOL omg excatly!

i also get a bit irratated over people who can never "get" what your saying, you have to explain to them over and over what you mean, thats annoying as f**k, ROFL

Yeah well, you do have a Welsh accent, so... :)

el Chi said:

EDIT: yeah also on holiday these 3 girls i bothered with all asked if i was Irish, and when i replied "welsh", they said "oh same thing :S".

Woah woah woah. You mean you don't all live in farms!? Christ on a stick that's a revelation.
Nah I'm only kidding, I know that people from the Valleys are indecipherable, inbred and backward whereas everyone else is ok. Sort of. I guess.

Yeah but they're your cousins, right? And it's cool - I'm not going to judge you if you like webbed feet and stuff. Each to his own.
And who did you threaten to get those qualifications? Just wondering... :)

i didnt know people thought this low of us.
NO they are not my cousins.. there are thousands of people living in the valleys, like i said is just like an english town... just with mountaings (beautiful scenery imo).

no we had those qualifications cos we worked hard at them, you dont believe how good out school was, very clean, MASSIVE, had a posh headteacher, it was a good school with fair teachers and rules.
and wtf with the webbed feet, you gotta be winding me up?

Sorry, of course I'm winding you up! I'm just completely accentuating people's comic piss-take preconceptions about Wales. Seriously I've got nothing against Wales - some of my closest friends are Welsh.

i was getting worried that, THATS how the rest of the UK percieved us....
btw i thought you was going to mention a sheep, but you didnt, thats a change, normally some1 cant think of wales without the word sheep, LOL :E

i got something else to add to this forum topic..

i hate it when a country is Stereotyped. :O lol

Sheep! Bollocks, I knew there was something I forgot. Oh well, I'll leave that for next time!

el Chi said:

its weird, becuase there arent many sheep here, i rarely see a sheep here (in south wales), and theres more sheep in England :rolling: :E

People that get violent when there're drunk.
People that are bitching around and spreed lies.
People that can't accept other people religion, beliefs etc.
People that are fundamentalists. (Christians, Muslims, Jews, everything). By that I don't mean people that belive very much in something, but who are not open to anything else and would do anything to make people join them.
People that are sexists, racists, homophobs etc.

I do have a minor prejudice against Turks. I know that it's stupid and I bet that most Turks are fine people. But the ones I often meet here? Ugh... Always cursing, always getting up in your face, and always looking for some excuse to fight you. I've fought so many of them that I've developed the knee-jerk reaction of keeping my distance, averting my eyes, and keeping my mouth shut whenever I come across a Turk. The only exception is one of my best friends, and even he spends a lot of time making fun of them.

On a more positive note, I've gotten over my prejudice towards Canadians. It was nothing serious, mind you. I think it was born out of that kind of competitive rivalry that all countries have with their neighbors. I'd crack jokes about them, avoid listening to Canadian artists, and shake my head whenever I found out a famous celebrity was of that nationality.

A couple things from personal experience got rid of this.

1) An influx of hot Canadian chicks at my school. Certainly impressed me. :)

2) Jim Carrey. When I found out he was Canadian, I had to give some respect to that country for producing one of the greatest guys alive.

3) Venetian Snares. Canadians can make music? Well, this guy apparently can. So ended my personal boycott of Canadian musicians.

4) When I heard they were taking steps to decriminalize marijuana. Not sure what the current status of that is, but at least it's further than the US has ever gotten.

May not seem like a lot in retrospect, but they are contributing factors. One morning, I just woke up and found that my view on them had changed. Now, I love my fellow canuck.

1. Arrogance

2. People who can't seem to understand that there is always a possibility that they are wrong.

3. People who don't look at the bigger picture in relation to their beliefs and actions.

Oh and isn't there some ridiculous percentage of Hollywood actors who're somewhat quiet about their Canadian roots? Something like 25-30% ?

Hehehe... Very true. They aren't exactly flaunting their best exports. Of course, I could probably come up with even more American "musicians" that are just as horrible.

I've also developed a liking for God Speed You Back Emperor. If I were to look, I'm sure I'd find quite a bit more Canadian acts that I like.

I wouldn't know about that percentage, but there is a hell of a lot. Jim Carrey obtained US citizenship not too long ago, though.

hmm honesty...well ok....i just plain hate people. ruiners of all things good, no desire to improve the human condition, selfish, can't be trusted with anything, vile disgusting, spiteful, ungrateful wankers the lot of you. i also ****ing hate people who gossip and bully others, really gets on my tits. :flame: if one word could describe me, it'd be misanthrope.

but you guys are alright. promise. :D

well ok I'll give you that ...but there's hot chicks in every corner of the earth ..ever see those national goegraphic videos featuring half-naked Tribal women? neck/lip stretching is such a turn-on ;)

well I dont think his nationality has anything to do with how funny he is ...a few more notable canadians: Mark Myers, Leslie Neilsen, Lorne Michaels etc

you can have up to 50 grams of pot, the only penalty being a fine (ticket) no criminal record no jail time

That's a very good list, I would have to agree on all of your points. Another thing that I generally despise is erm, to put it bluntly - extremely stupid people. Sorry, I know I shouldn't be saying this but "slow" people generally do my head in. I can't have a serious conversation with a person I know (very stupid), as she'd either have no clue what I'm talking about and just embarrass herself. The thing is, I wouldn't mind it if she wasn't so full of herself, because she's a nice person.

The next thing is hypocrites. I mean I saw a wigger get on the bus wearing his "bling bling", 2pac t-shirt, with some rap playing from his phone - only for him to start scratching "NF" and the nazi swastika on the bus window. Twat.

So, as well as el Chi mentioned, arrogant stupid people, as well as bloody hypocrites.

there are some thing i hate bu currently i'm getting realy sick of:
(i'm EU)

RAP culture!! not that i hate black people, far from it, it's just get sick of theire (rapers) way of life, clothing, speaking, "toughnes", gangs,...MUSIC!!! it's anoying, boring, depresing, meaningless, in short, CRAP!!!

here rap is getting more popular by the day, and most younger generations pick it up!!! In my deepest dephts of my soul, i wish somebody would make genocide on them!!! NOT black people, just RAPERS, i'd be happy if somebody blew eminems head off!!!

This is awesome, haha. Its good getting to know about each other outside of politics all the time.

But... cptstern! You didnt post any :(

I'm prejudiced towards people with prejudices, and I also hate hypocrits.

In all seriousness, I can't abide anyone that makes an instant decision on someones personality based on their appearance/accent/mannerisms. Admittedly if someone is performing pelvic thrusts while wearing a "F*CK YOU" shirt I'd think very little of them. Commenting on someone's appearance- anything from their clothing to their stance- is also out of bounds, as are comments on someone's weight, looks, or race.

Trying to pick a fight with someone over a small slight? You're a violent sod who deserves to be beaten with a cricket bat. DAMN, that paradoxical hypocrisy factor just stabbed me in the shoulder.

Loudly make comments on someone else's fashion sense? I pity you for spending fifty times more on your clothes than I do. Elitist nitwit.

Obstructing people or speaking down to them merely for a laugh? Don't complain when I punch you in the face.*

*Note that I don't condone such behaviour, however since I'm a shifty little sod I reserve the right to resort to violence myself since I'm a) opinionated b) in awe at human stupidity and c) quite capable of getting away with it.

Nah it's all good. Usually, I wouldn't wish violence against someone, but when Liam Gallagher ahd seven shades of sh*t kicked out of him and his teeth knocked out, I had nothing but hilarity in my heart.
You've spent the last decade trying to big yourself up as this Northern hardman and then oooh you properly pick a fight and you get f*cked up. You deserve it, Gallagher, you tosser.

anyone that congregates around the exit of anything.

I mean really. WTF were you exiting for, to stand in the ****ing way of everyone else trying to GTFO? I have 0% tolerance for that shit, and will give a good hearty GTFO of my way asshole to anyone that does it. I'll gladly explain to them that they are indeed the ****ing idiot for standing in the goddamn way of a ****ing exit.

Other than dolts who do that I can get along, or at least show the same level of respect that I receive from someone to them.

ooooops.

I forgot another. People that stand so close to you that you breathe their breath. 100% Unacceptable. If you can't get the fact that I need space from my moving back away from you, then I'll warn you to kindly GTFO of my face. The warning is a 1 time shot at staying TFO of my face. Pain compliance is the next step. After a generous portion of applying pain to a joint/pressure point staying the **** away from me no longer is a problem.
