hey folks, i hop you can help me with this, its quite frustrating since i was able to play for whole 10 minutes yesterday!

here we go:
i start hl2 over steam, the pc loads something, the dvd starts running. the process 'hl2.exe' shows up and is running too, using cpu speed of about 99. but nothing happens.. waited for minutes, and still nothing shows up. it worked yesterday, dont ask me why..

anyone got a solution for this?

I flashed my dvdr (a Philips DVDR 1620K) with the official software. The game runs really well now.

got the same exact problem. only mine is a MSI DvD/CD RW combo. checked for latest updates and firmware to no avail. still go the problem. how do you flash the drive?

well, this is weird. everytime i reboot my pc and immediatly try to start hl2 it works... hum. i hope valve fix that somehow..
