This is essentially a victory for the Republicans. I can't believe the Dems don't see that.

They had some candidates going for it too that would have good potential to make the Democrats gain ground, I'm personally glad they didn't make it :p

I don't understand why they would do this. They only thing I can think of is that they figure they have no chance in 2008, so they can convienently blame the loss on Dean and make a strong push for 2012.

Personally I think 3 consecutive terms is too long for any party, and barring Rudy runs for the 'Pubs, I'd hope to see a good Dem canidate pull off a solid victory. Now my dreams are dashed. I guess that means Rudy better run. He really is a solid centrist, which is all right by me.

Dean attended a post-caucus rally for his volunteers in Iowa to deliver his concession speech, aimed at cheering up those in attendance. Forced to shout over the cheers of his enthusiastic audience, Dean didn't realize the crowd noise was being filtered out by his unidirectional microphone,[1] (http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/news/wabc_2004vote_012904dean.html) leaving only his full-throated exhortations audible to the television viewers. To those at home, it sound as if he was raising his voice out of sheer emotion. Recordings from within the crowd made it clear that Dean was shouting in order to be heard over the cheers of the crowd.[2] (http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/news/wabc_2004vote_012904dean.html)

Regardless, many in the television audience criticized the speech as loud, peculiar, and unpresidential. [3] (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2001840708_deantv21.html) In particular, this quote from the speech was aired repeatedly in the days following the caucus:

"Not only are we going to New Hampshire, Tom Harkin, we're going to South Carolina and Oklahoma and Arizona and North Dakota and New Mexico, and we're going to California and Texas and New York...And we're going to South Dakota and Oregon and Washington and Michigan. And then we're going to Washington, D.C., to take back the White House! Yeeeaah!!!"

This final "yeeeaaaahhh" has become known in American political folklore as either "the Dean Scream" or the "I Have a Scream" speech.

The good news here, you HAVE heard of howard dean, but who the hells has every heard of ken mehlman? Honestly though, I could care less as I vote by principle and not party lines... But i'll support dean, I actually followed his campaigne closely during the race, and I agree with a few of the positions he takes...

At least he admits to dodging the draft, he doesn't try and pretend that hes something he is not... Wish I could say the same for the president and the vice president.

Dean is a solid guy. I'd gladly give him my vote.

And I'm sure he'd YYAHHHHAHHHH TAKE IT AS IM GOING TO MICHIGAN, NEW YORK, CALIFORNIA, NEW HAMPSHIRE, SOUTH DAKOTA YAYYYYAHHHHHAHHARRRRRRRR.

Making fun of the way he talks? I could list off countless examples of Bush's abuse of language, but I fear I'd die from old age before finishing. ;)

I mean this as no offense to you, but that is exactly why the Dem's have no chance.

The reason Bush won and Kerry lost is that Europe hated Bush and liked Kerry. It scared off Americans from voting for the same guy that Europeans liked so much. Easy rule of thumb in the US; If Europeans would willingly vote for a canidate, he is far too left wing to ever hold the president's office in the US.

That may change in the future, but not anytime soon.

I do respect Dean for being HONEST about the way he feels on issues, etc (Kerry was not) But I have no respect for his policies etc.

The majority of America conflicts with those policies. The Dems were trying to move more to the center in order to win over more seats in the next elections, but the thing is they just took a huge step to the left. It alienates the more centered democrats that already are in the party, and pushes America farther away than it was.

aarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrahhhhhhhhhhh MORE REPUBLICANS IN POWER AHAAAAAAAAH, THEY WILL TAKE EVERYYY SSSTAAATTTEEE!

Oh no, what have the democrats done.
Nice way to shoot yourself in the foot DNC. I just dont get it, I mean especially after the whole "primal roar" thing he did, they still think the people respect him?

Oh well the We libertartians will wait in the shadows ready to take over when the time is right! ARRAAAAHHH!

I would be a Libertarian if it weren't for the extreme drug freedom (Marijuana and such could be legal in the home, not in public nor to sell, but beyond that the hard drugs should still be illegal) and abortion. Otherwise besides those two things and just a couple others they stand for what the country is meant to be.

Well you can still be a libertarian and not agree with everything they stand for.

I am strongly enough opposed to that though that I feel the Republican party represents more of what I support. (I will elect various parties depending on whoever best fits the views, but it tends to almost always be Republican)

I really am ticked at overspending by the party though, but they are starting to take some steps in the right direction to get people off government dependency.

Was that the guy who tried to become the democrats president candidate?

XD Those are the reasons i respect the Libertarian part.
Its the whole crazy conservative fiscal policies i don't agrea with em on.

And why would people not respect a man because he got carried away while making a speach..? No one would have thought twice about if it the media didn't carry on about it so much. I think he's a fine guy and will do an excellent job in the DNC.

It's not the yell, it's the policies. The yell is just kind of a new form of symbolism for rabid extreme leftism, it's what he's come to represent. It just wasn't a wise party choice for their entire group to let him take the helm.

Do the Dems honestly think Howard Dean will sway any Conservative or Moderate to their side? This is too good to be true.
Maybe he can scare ya'll into it. But I agree, he's a bit too extreme to be in charge of rebuilding a party in shambles.

I think he represents the Democratic Party perfectly, he's f*cking insane and he didn;t win the election, not even the primary

The Dems are not as dumb as they appear... They put him on the DNC Chair to keep him from running for the White House again.

Absinthe, go hallucinate in a corner or something; because, how many times HAS EVERYONE INCLUDING ME, flailed and laughed at Bush's speech? :D C'mon! Enjoy the fun! American Politicians are silly!
